Do not post until you have read all of this, ensuring that you know that you belong here. This Halloween party was brought out by the Mentors of the house for the Mentees. If you received a PM about it, you know you can post here. If no, then don’t. However, the mentors and mentees will invite guests (in our house for those dim ones who couldn’t tell…)… Below is a list of people who are welcomed to join us. As for the rest of you who may want to join the fun, send Sierra Lucas or me a PM and please tell us why you want to join. The reason why we didn’t want to make it an entire house party is because we wanted to bond with the Mentees and see them most of the time- being active. The reason why we will let people who truly wish to have fun and roleplay is because you may be deemed acceptable to contribute. In other words, we don’t need people cluttering the thread(s) with “*scowl* what the hell are they doing…blah blah blah…so boring…” Remember, mentoring is offered all year round..not too late to join. Come in costume, please. It would certainly add to the roleplay possibility. And try to avoid moping… Games and activities set up.. Read and you’ll understand. This party will be left opened for a while, pass Christmas so people can keep replying, so don’t be afraid to join. ^^ Guest List Lucius Malfoy Devlin Allston Arista Rinvaleré Maria York Zach Leach Sariss Jenna James ABSY RIZZLE WHO LIKES TO BE INVITED TWICE. The green flames of the fireplace cackled as the floating candles provided dim light for the common room. Silky black sheets dressed the Armani sofas, in order to prevent any ungraceful accidents relating to the various snacks and foods set along the stone walls. Beads hung from the ceiling, often swaying itself to swat the partycomers. Fake skeletons were bewitched to walk around the common room, and if one walked all too close, they might experience a fright or two. Overall, the Common Room looked marvelous, as it should be. After all, Jasmine and Sierra had worked their arses off for a few days to get preparations ready and to rub the fun into the faces of all, who never asked for participation into the program at the beginning of the year. People were already coming in, but the girls had a few last minute preparations to include. While Jasmine was preparing the last of food, Sierra was making final adjustments to the games section. Then, grabbing a lonely blue and bronze pompom they kept from the birdhunt, the girl hung it up. Let people snort in distaste and beat the pompoms for all she cared, as long as they were still in somewhat a decent shape so little Catalina can take them after to taunt the Ravenclaw cheerleaders. That ickle cheerleader wasn’t even enough for breakfast, and if Jasmine ever saw the twit again, she would be the Halloween decorations. Jasmine waved to a few Slytherins, who were coming from their dorm rooms. The brunette stretched, and her arms brushed on the wings attached to her back. How in the hell did I let Sierra convince me to be an http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v68/JazAillaSnow/jac.gif… She glanced at the other prefect, who was a vampire, and shook her head. While strutting towards the sofa, a walking skeleton grabbed her for a tango- only to receive an elbow right in its bony ribs. Jasmine collapsed on the sofa, uncomfortably pulling down the skirt to her costume. “Accio butterbeers! Sierra, time for a quick break!” The butterbeers flew into her hands, and she set them on the table free of shrunken heads. More of the OoC bit. Do NOT start any more threads about the party except this one and the game one by Sierra. No cluttering the Common Room! In this thread will be where you talk, chill, look, dance, eat, drink, etc. All of the games will be played in the other thread. Post, my dears, and have fun!

The sound of Jasmine's voice made Sierra turn her head, thankful at the opportunity to sit down and stop staring at the apples in the tank. Though they were just... apples with arms, she could've sworn that they had beady little eyes somewhere, watching her and waiting for the best moment to strike. Even if the apples weren't plotting her death, the beads hanging from the ceiling had whacked her on the head quite a few times. Strolling over towards the sofa the older girl had placed herself on and dodging out of the way of the beads again, the Slytherin sat down after arranging all the random flowy bits of her costume, and took one of the butterbeer bottles from the table. Leaning back against the comfortable furniture which had some luxurious black sheets over it, she removed the lid of the bottle and put it to her lips, then paused. The fangs made it a bit inconvenient. Sighing, she lowered the bottle and turned a little on the sofa to look at Jasmine. "How long of a break do you think we've got until this place is full of ickles who will be spilling stuff and making a general nusiance of themselves?" It was not a pleasant thought but, hey, that was the price of being a mentor. There was a general rule that you had to be nice to the younger students, otherwise the whole point of being one was lost. Unfortunately. Lifting the bottle again, Sierra managed to work around the fangs and actually swallowed some of the tasty liquid.

"I daresay not long, Sierra," Ligeia spoke softly coming down the steps from her dorm room in an elegant white dress complete with a corset that nearly cut off the young girl's breathing. A white half mask decorated her face as if she were hiding half of it. She recently read "Le Fantome de l'Opera" in French and everything, a present from her Aunt Renee for her birthday the year before. Having finally finished the book and being stuck in deciding which character she liked best she opted to dress as Christine and say taht she stole the Phantom's mask. It was stupid, but all she could think of for the moment. Another Halloween where she was not creative at all in her efforts to find a costume. Oh maybe one year she'd have a decent one. She sucked in her stomach a bit, making it a little easier to breath with the ridiculous corset on. Honestly why was she even wearing such a horrible thing. How could women breath in it? No thank you. Long flowing but comfortable robes were just fine for her. She gave a slight smile to both of the prefect and was a slight bit nervous that she was the first to arrive. "Interestingly enough, I can't sing a note to save my life," she giggled a bit and shook her curled reddish brown hair. She gazed at the guest list briefly. Sariss was coming along with Jenna. That was good. Of course the Governor was invited. Ligeia kept her bitterness to herself and took her mind off the subject very quickly. She felt foolish though. Everyone could easily tell that she was Ligeia Harding. It wasn't that hard for someone to recognize her.
Posted by: Tristessa Durera Dec 19 2004, 06:40 AM
Tristessa came down from the stairs from the common rooms, hearing the crackling fire and the roar of conversation. Perhaps it wasn't such a roar.. but it was something, something worth comming out of her room for. She had remembered it was Halloween, so she had adorned herself in armor.. She had read some story awhile ago, a Muggle one, about a woman named http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v109/TristessaDurera/Trishhalloween.gif She figured that it was the perfect costume.. as the woman was quite inspirational. She stumbled down the remaining stairs, dragging her sword behind her. Obviously it was only one she had borrowed from a suit or armor in the hall. He had believed her as she told the tale of Joan of Arc, and stared at her intently until she was finished. He had been kind enough to offer her his sword, as a token of gratitude. She had smiled and accepted it, planning on returning it later.. if she didn't grow too attached to it. "Good evening." She said softly to the patrons who were already there. She took a seat on the couch, nearest the entrance to the common rooms smiling. "Lia! Is that you? Lovely costume!"
Posted by: Brooke Duke Dec 19 2004, 09:01 AM
Brooke rushed into the common room full of excitement and anticipation. A party! Nothing would have prevented the firstie from attending. She loved parties! And what was even more exciting was that it was fancy dress! Yet she was running late. She'd been caught up in the library researching for her potions assignment - Alcohol of all things! She was forced to write about something that she didn't see the relevance too. At least she was positive she'd get a better grade then an A this week. A's got you no where, Brooke wanted O's. Half way to her dorm, Brooke stopped to take in the common room. It looked amazing! There were games and beady things and drinks and food and chocolate and people and "WOW! This looks amazing!" She was so tempted to nick a bit of chocolate and take it to her dorm to munch on while she got her costume sorted out, but she thought better of it. It wouldn't take long to change and so she scolded herself inwardly for being so greedy. She was about to continue on her way to the dorm when she spotted her mentor Jasmine sitting on a lounge nearby. She still wasn't quite sure of herself around the older girl, but decided there was nothing wrong with being polite and respectful. "Hey Jasmine! This looks amazing!" she smiled, indicating the room around them. "I'm just going to get my costume now! I like yours!" With that, she turned to head towards her dorm. Unfortunatley, before she'd even made it three steps away she was suddenly caught in two step by a rather nervous looking skeleton. A nervous skeleton that was standing on her foot. A nervous skeleton who was standing on her foot and wouldn't let her go. "Hey. Get. Off." she cried angrily at it. "I have to get my costume you stupid bonehead!" And with that, she kicked it in the shin bone and continued on to her dorm, only once looking back at the older crowd who had undoubtedly watched what had happened. Blushing slightly she continued on her way.

Lina had decided it would be okay to come out of hiding in her room for one evening. It was a costume party afterall and Lina still had yet to meet the little darlings she was going to mentor. THe small girl stepped out of her room, as adorable as ever. Dulcie had sent her the lovliest http://home.comcast.net/~catalina_literali/butterfly.png costume, and she couldn't just let it go to waste. The ickle admired just how pretty she looked in her costume before running off to the commons. The ickle approached the commons carefully. She still wasn't quite comfortable being around large groups of people. It made her feel like she was being watched because she was indeed. Lina heard the whispering in the hallways, most people weren't sure to make of what happened. There were some who firmly believed the students acted of their own free will. She was so tired of it all that she just was starting to not care anymore. If students believed she could do all those things, then she could. She was the most powerful ickle of them all and therefore no one would think to cross her. Otherwise she'd lay them to rest in little bitty pieces. Lina just smirked and shook her head. As she crossed the commons she realized she really didn't know anyone that was here already. She nervously bit her bottom lip and fidgeted with the tuille layer of her skirt and took a deep breath. Slowly the ickle made her way up to Jasmine snow, the one who put the mentoring program all together. " Hi Jamsine." Lina spoke softly. " Umm... what are the name of my first years again? I haven't had a chance to meet them yet because... because of the situation I was in..." she looked at the girl hoping she wouldn't bite Lina's head off.

Amy was in the dorm she shared with a few other girls. She was all dolled up and ready to go. She viewed herself in the long mirror. Tilting to each side trying to see some faults, she pulled at her jacket sleeves and wiping it down. Her boots were fine and the same went for the skirt. She pulled at her hair, which had been magically coloured purple. Amy had tried all day to fix her hair and she was happy with it. Her letter was on the floor in front of her. A Halloween party, Amy loved to dress up like any other girl. She was a fairy this year. It was a lot of hassle trying to get the purple contacts in, she had poked her eye countless times and had been reduced to tears by the end. She smiled and twirled around, she thought she looked great! She came down the dorm stairs, carefully holding her skirt and constantly glancing at her wings. It had butterflies automatically enchanted to whirl around her. They were slightly annoying, especially when they decide to take a nap on her nose and spread out their wings. Was her mentor there? She glanced about the highly decorated room. Her mouth was open in amazement at the sight. Everything was so.... Perfect. She walked over to the gathering, which were mainly older students. Amy out herself out and smiled to them. "Umm happy Halloween?" ![]() (doll was adopted from http://www.packagedbliss.com
Posted by: Bahh Ortiz Dec 19 2004, 08:46 PM
Bahh was a little hesitant to join the Halloween party. She didn't really know any of the other mentors and she had yet to meet her mentees. She just didn't get in contact with her despite the owls she sent them. So...in the end, she would really only know Lina. And she had already made her way out of their dorm room in her fairy costume. Bahh's looked down at her own. It wasn't a typical Halloween costume. Her fingers played with the hem of the short blue pleated skirt. It was much shorter than any skirt she had ever worn before and it was a bit uncomfortable. She was also wearing a blue and gold sweater. Both had been sent in express from her mother. She had slyly taken Salazar, the snake plush that Bahh had given Lina, from Lina's bed, and managed to attach it to the back of the sweater, about the shoulder blade area, looking as if it was biting her. All in all, a Ravenclaw Cheerleader being attacked by a snake. She wasn't sure how others would feel about it and that made the girl a little nervous, but she was more worried about being in a room with strangers that she saw every day. She walked into the common room and gasped at the decorations. They were fabulous. Except, maybe the beads that were flapping against her head. She glared angrily at them before entering the common room completely. She looked around and saw Lina talking to a few older Slytherins. Two prefects. Including the one that asked her to be a mentor in the first place. They had never properly met and Bahh felt it was about time. The girl walked up to the small group and nudged her roommate playfully and with a grin. She then turned her head to the other students, focusing on the fifth year. "Hello," she said, nodding in greeting to those around her. "Bahh Ortiz," she introduced, "pleasure to finally meet you all." With that part done, Bahh's eyes flickered around the room, wondering if her ickles were planning on coming.

Kiara walked slowly, shyly into the Slytherin Common room, looking at all the decorations and effort put into it. She was surprised to get an invite to it, as she didnt actually know anyone, apart from her roomies, but she doubted they'd be here. They were second years after all. She saw a small group of people by the fire. She looked down at her clothes, hoping she looked alright as a cat. She liked cats, and had a spare costume from ladt years halloween thign at her house. Come to think of it, she had a party then too. It seemed she was continuing the tradition at Hogwarts. She walked over and looked around for her mentor. Unfortunetly, she hadn't really met her face to face and didn't know which one she was, if she was there at all. She looked at all the decorations, feeling happy and grateful that peopel had put in this much effort for them, the ickles. They didn't have to really. She pulled the cat mask over her eyes, and her blue eyes stood out through them. She had drawn whiskers on her face to make it more realistic, and put black lipstick on. She did a realistic meow and waited to see what happened.

Sierra looked up as someone else answered the question she had posed to Jasmine, smiling as she realised that it was Ligeia Harding. They had spent over three years together at Hogwarts but still didn't know each other that well. That was changing slightly now, however, which was definitely a good thing. She was getting to know a lot more people in her house and finding that it was indeed nice having quite a few friends within Slytherin. The girl's costume was very pretty, and after a moment, she recognised the mask as that of the Phantom of the Opera. Although her father had never been very keen on muggles, he had held a rather different approach to their literature, and therefore she was at least vaguely aware of things such as that, if nothing else. "I like your costume," she offered simply, giving a small smile. Then, as predicted, came the barrage of people. However, it seemed like most of the students were actually mentors, rather than mentees, which was odd as they were the smallest in numbers. Oh well. "Nice sword!" Sierra said to Tristessa, examining her costume with an impressed look. It was probably quite heavy to lug around, so it was nice to see that people were actually bothering to put in some effort with their costumes and were being creative. Unlike her, who was being the Halloween stereotype of a vampire. Oops. The fourth year then greeted the rest of the students in turn, again pleased with the variety of costumes. Quite a few of them were very bright or colourful, especially the two who had costumes on a theme of butterflies of some description. It was nice to see that they were making the effort and weren't being stereotypically boring Slytherins. Taking another drink of the butterbeer and being careful to not scrape her fangs against the bottle, the dark-haired girl looked around and spotted one of the enchanted skeletons doing a little jig on its own, which made her laugh.
Posted by: Lovlin West Dec 20 2004, 07:07 AM
Lovlin sat in the dorm with a small peice of parchment laying her in her lap. Her lap was covered by a deep red dress laced with gold trimmings. Her black hair fell about her slender shoulders that were not covered by the red dress that covered the rest of her slender figure. Her sleeves flew about her arms, for they weren't exactly tight. In fact they weren't touching her creamy skin at all. They fluttered about her arms engolfed in white cloth as trimmed with the red. Under these yards of cloth were the actual sleeves. They too were white. Around her waist rested a gold belt of cloth. A small square of gold trimed also septerated a bit of white in the back of her dress from the rest. This same gold cloth rested around her head just below her hair line to finish off this extravgant gown. Who or what was http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v495/Felix_54/c2296ad2.bmp ? That she wasn't sure of herself. The dress was made by her mother. Something she wouldn't openly admit. She decided it was time to dust it off and give it a shot, and what better time than all hollows eve? Back to the small peice of parchment in her lap, an invite, something she didn't oftenly recive. She still debated whether to go or not. Finally she tossed this piece aside and stood up her dress flowling down to the ground. As for her ballet type, brown shoes, non-existant by the fact that all the fabric covered them. She entered the common room with grace and poise. Glaring rather evilly at a Skeloten that grinned at her with this toothy smile. Her dark green eyes scanned the rest of the room as she stepped down to the main floor. Why had she come...?
Posted by: Raul Duke Dec 20 2004, 07:46 AM
Raul was nearly done stuffing all of his clothes and bedding into the extra huge, stretchy, red sweater and shorts he had stolen from some Gryffindor. After a moment, all that was left was to adjust the lumpiness to match the imperfect roundish shape of a quaffle. His costume was even complete with a name tag that identified him as Lester, which everyone knew was the name for quaffles. With some last minute tweaks the costume was ready and the boy headed for the common room, surprised that he had been in his dorm for more than ten minutes without some girl busting in on him and having some kind of fit over something or someone. Things had changed a lot from last year. It wasn't as easy as he had expected it to be getting down to the common room. Who would have thought waddling down some dimly lit stairs would be so hard. Maybe it was because he couldn't see his feet and refused to hold onto the railing. Or maybe it was the running part since he was trying to hurry after taking too long to get ready. He charged into the common room, only stopping to untangle himself from some deviously placed bead thingies. The room looked awesome and, more importantly, there was food and drink available. "Hullo everyone, great party." With the pleasantries out of the way, he was free to make a beeline for the food. Afterall, how could they possibly think he was there for some other reason? Raul began helping himself to a huge tray of goodies without even considering that someone else might want some. He took the whole tray and a couple butterbeers over to one of the wisely covered sofas and sat down to start eating. Perhaps after he was full he would talk to some of the other guests.
Posted by: Modesty Drake Dec 20 2004, 10:47 AM
Modesty sat in her room, despairing of a decent costume plan. She had no money, no clothes besides her uniform robes, and pretty much nothing to make costume with. What could she do? She looked around the dorm for inspiration. She could cut eyeholes in one of her bedsheets and go as a supremely unconvincing ghost. But she'd already destroyed one of her sheets by turning it into a quidditch banner. She could maybe go as a Japanese lady if she wore her dressing gown and tied a scarf around it. Japan was fresh in her mind from her Herbology class. But she wasn't sure that anyone but her would recognise a dressing gown and scarf as an attempt at Japanese clothing. She drummed her fingers along the head board of her bed. Maybe she could go as a real person. If she took down one of the green velvet hangings from the bed and wore that, she could maybe go as Professor Giordiano. But how to do the red hair? She sighed. Who else had she seen recently? She could maybe wear a pillow case and go as a house-elf... she shook her head with exasperation at the image of herself wearing nothing but a pillow case. Perhaps Professor Giordiano was the best idea. If she could just make herself a wig... One furtive expedition into the dungeons later, she returned with three mops, a bottle of red ink, and a cauldron she'd borrowed from a store cupboard. Three hours after that, she had shredded and dyed the mops, and managed to cobble together something vaguely resembling a head of long red hair by knotting the strands of string from two mops onto the first. Chewing her lip, she now regarded the hangings of her bed, trying to work out how to make them wearable while doing the least damage to them. Eventually she settled for cutting a single long line in the middle of one curtain and pulling it over her head. She then draped the 'wig' over her head (yuck, it was still damp in the middle) and picked up a couple of her empty potions bottles and the borrowed cauldron as props. She eyed herself critically in the mirror. Oh dear. Well, she'd just have to hope people found it amusing. It was, after all, this or nothing, and at least she'd made an effort. Climbing the steps into the common room, her suspicions were confirmed - everyone else had proper costume. The older girls in particular looked very impressive. Modesty silently cursed her mother yet again. This was just the kind of thing she must have intended by giving her an allowance too small even to buy her school supplies. She wanted Modesty to give up and come home. But Modesty wasn't giving up for anyone. Head held high, she walked into the common room, looking around for her mentor. She'd yet to meet Cassie properly. Quidditch tryouts had been far too hectic to stop for a chat. But she didn't seem to be here yet. Looking around for her, Modesty spotted a skeleton, doing a little jig to her right. How marvelous! Eyes gleaming, Modesty walked up to it and examined it, head tilted.

People were now starting to come, she had only seen about 2 more first years - or who she thought were first years. Amy stood by the fireplace, wringing her hands; she was a bit shy at these sort of things. A butterfly flapped around her head, it's wings beating against her forehead. Amy swiped it away and looked about. A few costumes caught her eye, another butterfly, some guy as a quaffle Amy laughed at this, Joan of Arc, an angel and a vampire just to name a few. Her skirt was heating softly by the fire; the skirt was alot shorter than the rest at the front. She flicked her hair to a side, now able to view the older students around the armchairs and sofa's. Amy was too afraid to go ver there, all the worst outcomes fluttered in her head like the purple butterflies did. The only place that was sort of empty was the food table, the quaffle boy was over there. Amy could just grab a drink and then think of her next move. At least it would give her something to do. She took a deep breath and began to walk, when she reached the table she began to pour a drink. "Hello." Amy said softly in her Irish accent, her head searching around the table for a twirly straw to put into the mug. She turned and leaned against the table. She didn't really care if the boy replied she was just being polite. Amy looked into the large tin bucket of water. Apple Bobbing, but these apples had a difference. She watched them swim around with there tiny arms. They must have had eyes, but Amy wasn't sure. She swirled her drink and looked about, where to next? (Ooc - muse is officially dead)
Posted by: Kiara Jones Dec 20 2004, 03:55 PM
Kiara stood quietly, feeling a bit out of place. She didn't know anyone here, yet it seemed everyone knew everyone else. It was kinda freaky, and Kiara hoped someone she knew would come along, though that wasn't very likely. She didn't know them really. She saw a girl go over to the food stand looking a bit alone. She smiled shyly, and walked over. "Hi, I'm Kiara, you are?" she asked.

After the game, and after she'd washed her hair and gotten out of her quidditch uniform, *Ophelia Cleary headed back to her dorm to get into a nice halloween costume. She'd caught a few glimpses of other students as she'd hurried through the commons, all decked out in various cool costumes. She didn't have much, and she tore apart her room (and half her wardrobe!) trying to find something that would work. At last, she emerged from her bedroom...all hopes that she would somehow be able to dress as a dead bird were dashed, and she decided that http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v410/toxicfairie/cal00507.jpg would just have to do. She entered the common room nervously, glancing about for any sign of Seb or Sariss...or anyone she knew at all, really. She noticed her teammates were milling about the room already, and she flopped down on one of the sofas covered in a sheet and smiled brightly. She knew she'd made a few nice maneuvres with the bludgers during the game, and she was utterly proud.

"Hi, I'm Kiara, you are?" Amy hadn't notice the girl come over at all, she was in her own little world but was suddenly pulled out of it when Kiara began to address her. She smiled to the girl, she seemed to be a nice person, and she had manners unlike some she had seem through the last month at Hogwarts. She was a first year ickle like her; Amy couldn't wait to become second year so she could no longer be called an ickle. Amy put her hand out to the girl, returning her smile and slowly put her half-empty glass back down on the table, no one wanted spills in the common room did they? "My name's Amy, nice to meet you." She shook her hand, carefully that her jacket's cufflinks didn't fall off. They seemed to be pretty weak and wobble at any motion. A butterfly began to pester Amy's vision again, her hand pulling away from the handshake to batter it off. Why did she enchant them, maybe because she thought they gave a good effect. The only effect they gave was poking Amy in the eyes.
Posted by: Obsidian Cailoes Longshaw Dec 21 2004, 04:07 PM
Socialising. Yes, a verb...a verb that was never really part of Obsidian Cailoes Longshaw's life, but it seemed as if she were planning to do just that. News of the halloween party had spread through the common room quite fast, and the fact that it was invite only further put people on edge. Obsidian had actually been quite indifferent towards the whole thing, for she was never invited to anything. With this in mind it was quite a shock when Obsidian found that she had been invited to the party. She was not sure by who....but she really did not care either way. She had been invited, and therefore she felt supperior. It was, of course, a costume party and Obsidian had only a day left to figure out what she wanted to wear, which meant that demanding a custom made costume was way out of the question. She was sure, though, that she could throw something together. Obsidian had never actually been a girl of impulse, so this was somehwat of a challenge. After searching her closet for a straight hour she concluded that it was not going to work. Then she remembered....she had already planned a costume over summer...it was made and everything....but where had she put it. She remembered that she had hid it for safekeeping but had no idea where it was stashed. After another fifteen minutes of manual labor, something Obsidian had always found herself above but was slightly desperate at this point, she had found it. She had completely missed it before hand, but it was in a long protective casing. Carefully she spread the costume out on her bed and took away the casing, discarding it mindlessly on the floor. Without the casing obscuring the contents, Obsidian now fully remembered the awesomness ((teehee)) of her costume. She had personally been involved in the making of it and was quite proud. The costume, in its entirety, was an asian princess. Obsidian had been fascinated with the sophistication of the asian world and just HAD TO apply it to her halloween costume. Staring at her costume she could not help but smile. It was perfect. The next day Obsidian awoke and was completely excited. Today was the day of the party. When the time came, and the dorm room were busy with chattering as girls pulled their costumes on, Obsidian ws completely silent. She never was one for big talk anyways, as if anybody would approach her. She pulled her costume onto her and admired her reflection in the mirror. As soon as she saw her reflection she knew she had picked the right costume. The material was of fine white silk and had been sewed expertly into what obsidian called an asian princess costume. She had done her hair into a bun and placed a flower clip into her hair. Now all she had left to do was her makeup. Lightly she powdered her pale face even paler, and winged her eye to give her that asian look. When all was ready, the party was soon to start. Obsidian made her way down into the common room, where the party had already begun. Many people were enjoying themselves, and Obsidian decided she did not care to interrupt them. Instead she took a seat close to the fire. Perhaps somebody would approach her. Half of her hoped so, but she would not admit this. ((*twiddles thumbs and waits for lina* I hope I didn't bore anybody...my muse is not on my side tonight.)) edit: *blursh* here's the costume...if anybody recognises it!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/maybeimwrong/sidicostume.bmp

Kiara smiled. She seemed to have startled the girl, something which was a talent of hers, it seemed. It annoyed her most times though. She meowed, and shook Amy's hand. "Pleasure to meet you Amy," she said. She let go and smiled shyly. The girl looked to be her age, which ment she had to torture of being called an ickle. She grinned as she remembered her first reaction at being caalled an ickle. Now though, she kind of liked it, as it was like their own nickname, something which she didn't have. Attempting to make convosation, she spoke. "So, who's your mentor here?" she asked her. "Mines Catalina Literally, or something, but I don't really know what she looks like, and I'm too scared to ask the older people," she said.

Lina shrugged as Jassy and Sierra both ignored her presence. No matter, this behavior was common in Slytherin. Lina merely excused herself when she spotted Obsidian walk into the room. She looked adorable in her Kimono. Lina didn't know the girl well at all. She was a beater on the Slytherin team, and Lina always saw the pretty girl by herself. Thinking that she should get to know more people in her house better, Lina asked Jasmine if she could invited Obsidian to the Halloween party. The ickle princess skipped over to the girl and smiled." You look lovely Obsidian. I'm glad you came, I wasn't sure if you would, but I thought I'd have Jassy add you to the guest list anyway. Are you supposed to be a Geisha?" Lina asked looking ovre the girls Kimono. " You looks fantastic." Lina tippedtoed around the girl carefully looking the costume over. Most Slythies were pretty unfriendly and you never wanted to be within striking distance of one of them.

Obsidian sighed to herself, watching as people socialised around her. She planned to talk to people, just not yet. She wanted to study her options, judge people mentally. She did not want to begin talking to somebody only to later find out that she really did not like them. Yes, this was a great plan...a great plan until an ickle came and approached Obsidian. Obsidian rose a brow at the ickle and her quite colorful attire. The third year recognised this fairy as a second year, or maybe it was first, and she always saw her around with people like Zach Leach and many other guys. Catalina was her name and she seemed quite the social butterfly, on the very contrary to Obsidian herself. You look lovely Obsidian. (( Her pale cheeks flushed slightly and she could not help but grin sheepishly. Sidi was quite startled by the compliment, and even the fact that she was suddenly getting attention. This was something the girl was definately not used to, and was not quite sue how she felt about it just yet. At the mention of her costume, Obsidian was caught off guard. Lina was a smart ickle, and though Obsidian knew any of the Slytherins really had the luxury of traveling to such places where this dress was custom, she had not really expected anybody to point it out specifically. "Why, yes it is," Obsidian said, trying to muster a kind tone...something she was not very accustomed to. As of late, however, Obsidian seemed to be experiencing a slight personality change. It was not drastic or anything, but she had pinpointed it to when she had made the Quidditch team. She had not really expected to make any friends, but the fact that she had made friends changed alot of things. It was not that she was more social or anything, but she was becoming less insecure and finally felt as if she...well...belonged. Not that she would voice these thoughts for she had yet to really see it herself. "And you are...a....fairy?" she asked as soon as Lina had finished tiptoeing around her. "It is quite the unique costume though..." Obsidian attempted to cross her legs, but was met with an odd conflict indeed. She found that in the kimono it was near impossible to do anything in it when sitting. So instead the third year just contened herself with sitting up straight and trying to relax her legs. Keeping posture was not exactly a hard thing to do in such an outfit as hers.

Although her usual, mismatched every day outfits could easily pass as a getup for Hallowe'en, *Dorcas Smith put aside her usual spywear and funky hats for the day and dug through her trunk for something else to wear to the party. She threw aside her long strand of fake pearls, cast the pink heart-shaped sunglasses on the messy floor of The Pig Sty dorm room, tossed her pirate hat on her unmade bed and flung her feather boa over her shoulder. Finally, she found exactly what she was looking for. It was the costume she had worn when she played Bubbles for Zach's themed dueling tounament. The duel had been terribly boring, since all she was allowed to do was pick up after the stupid boy's mess. Dorcas traded her tattered overalls for the Powerpuff Girl costume, not even noticing that she had it on backwards. She slapped the plastic headpiece on top of her head and attached the black circles around her eyes with scotch tape. Then to complete the outfit, she slipped her socked feet inside her now scruffy Mary Janes that her mother insisted she have for classes. They pinched her toes a bit, since the only pair of socks she could find under her mess were a bit thick, but Dorcas decided that if they bothered her too much during the party, she'd just take them off. Just before leaving the room, the cootie-believer dug out a small flask from her knapsack and took a quick swig of the sweet drink. There. That should ward off the boy cooties for a good hour or two. 'Bubbles' made her way down the stairs humming to theme song from the muggle television show to herself. Once she got to the bottom, she put her hands on her hips to survey the party. "I have ultra-super powers!" she announced loudly to the crowd. Without bothering to see if anyone had even heard her, she made her way over to a random person. "Hello, I'm Bubbles!" she said in introduction. "I'm dedicated to fighting evil and saving the world, one monkey at a time!" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/Jeneva_Jewels/bubbles.jpg

There weren't a lot of large participant conversations going on in the party, which wasn't really a surprise. It was evident that not many of the first years knew many people, but they had more of an excuse to go around introducing themselves to random people. It was different for Bahh. She was a second year and should know more than one person celebrating. But a quick look around showed that that was the case. There were a bunch of people that she recognized and knew the name of (call it stalkerish if you like, Bahh liked to refer to it as observant). She wasn't brave enough to go up to them, though. Well, it was time to go through her plan for the day. She made her way to an empty plushy couch and plopped herself down into it. The intensity of it though caused her too-short skirt to flutter her around her legs, making the girl a little nervous. She quickly ran her hands down it to make sure that she was decent for everyone around her. She also made a quick scan of the room to make sure no one noticed the second of too-much-leg. When she felt as though things were safe, she leaned back into the chair, adjusting the snake that was on her back so she was more comfortable. She looked around the celebration with a grin, glaring once at a skeleton that was making its way too close to the girl. It was quite unfortunate though that no one was playing any of the games. Maybe when she could motivate herself to stand up again, she would go and play. For now, she was going to do what she did best...stalk. Err, wait! No--observe the festivities.

"We made a deal, so shut up and wear the glasses." The Prefect's overly loud voice carried straight towards the party she was late for. Truth be said, she didn't actually want to come at all. Especially dressed like this. But, she had to wear something, and Regina had proposed the perfect costume. Cassie was to come dressed as her, of course. Naturally, that left the whole 'why would Cassie want to go to a party dressed as her fairy' part. Therefore, a deal had been made. Cassie came like this and Regina came dressed as her. The last problem had been trying to find someone who fitted clothes- Slytherin-type robes, no less- for a fairy. And of course, getting Cassie to wear the blasted thing. She'd ended up making a few... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/CassieXanthe/Gina.jpg. "Hello, all." The Sixth Year declared in a rather drastic way, grabbing a random person by the scruff of the neck and heaving them out of her chair. HER chair, d'ya hear? Amazingly enough, she wasn't the only one dressed in a fairy costume... but how many of them came with a fairy dressed as the Slytherin Prefect now, hah?! Regina stepped out from under her hair, dressed in a miniature version of the stylish Slytherin uniform, looking rather disgruntled and fiddling with her glasses- or rather, Cassie's glasses.

Anyone who thought that someone like Sariss actually had the time and leisure to come up with a creative costume was sorely mistaken. There hadn't been all that much time for her to write home and get her foster parents to send her a costume anyway, nor had she considered going to Gladrags and picking one that every other girl in the school would pick. So she just wore her favourite fancy dress again. It had been a little too big during the previous years, but by now it began to fit her. No more needles needed to keep it in shape and all that. And somehow it was nice to make herself pretty for a change. Her hair was up, with some glittery barettes... well... not exactly Halloween-ish but nevertheless not your everyday styling. It would have to do. Bloody costumes that they wanted... As Sariss approached the small crowd of people that were party guests in this mentors and mentees party, she realised that Seb was not here yet. By Merlin, was he trying to decide on a costume and couldn't make up his mind? Or had he picked a costume that wouldn't let him pass through the doorway anymore? Or had he tried to charm something and it had backfired? Oy... Sariss shouldn't start to worry about that already! He was probably still busy fixing his hair. Yes, that must be it. Sariss nodded to herself and then went to greet some of the people that she knew, all the time chancing glances into the direction from which Seb should be emerging any minute now...

Finding a costume was hard. If Seb had his own way, he would simply throw some material over his head and pretend he was under an Invisibility Cloak and have it done with. In fact why he didn’t he do that? Because you like to show off. a voice inside his head spoke to him. The boy had chosen to be a puppet. A jester puppet to be exact, with enchanted strings too which moved with him to give the illusion someone was controlling him. The bells jingled on his hat as it was carefully placed on his freshly washed hair. Red, gold and purple were the colours. No green in sight (apart from his eyes) Seb tightened his belt around his waist, double checked how he looked in the mirror and leant over to the sideboard for his wand, stuffing it up his right sleeve for easy access if needed. He was sure the only time it would be needed if he spilt something down the costume. It was, after all, only rented and the owner wouldn’t appreciate stains. With everything in place, Seb turned and headed out towards the Common Room where the party was surely underway. A few happy looking people had gathered, most of them standing in groups in their own corner to gossip. Sebastian stood on his toes to see if he could find Sariss amongst them. She never told him what she would be wearing, and he didn’t tell her neither. Cassie, he noticed, was dressed as a faerie, his mentee Dorcas was dressed as some … blonde thing, the other ickle he looked after, Ophelia was a pirate (he gave a little wave) and.. ah. Seb had spotted Sariss wearing a lovely black and purple dress. Seb gave a little jig to draw attention to himself with the jingling bells and made a dive for Sariss. “Good evening, m’lady!” Seb said before bowing dramatically in front of her, the strings on his costume moving along with him. Luckily for Seb there was no one behind him who would’ve been pushed across the Common Room by his backside. http://www.haynesmarionettes.com/Marionettes/Jester%20(19inch).jpg

Casually ambling past the party folk, Sariss investigated who was here and what was so special about this party anyway that there had been given out invitations to merely a fraction of the Slytherin student body. It was organised very well from what Sariss could see, and that was not surprising considering the people who had set up the entire party to Sariss's knowledge. There was a bit of a racket. Well, if one called the sound of jingling bells—was it Christmas already?!—a racket, that is. Sariss looked around to come face to face with a jester. She began to laugh with surprise and delight. A jester of all things! And one with strings attached too! How ingenious was this? Seb could be so creative when he wanted to. Sariss grinned broadly. “Good evening, m’lady!” Seb said and bowed. The little bells on his hat and belt were jingling merrily with every movement that he made. Sariss found that very amusing. The jingling sounded so cute! Oy… and those strings were fancy! She seemingly couldn't draw her eyes away from them. It almost looked like someone was pulling on those strings! Eeep! Scary thought that. No no… Surely it only looked like it and Seb was the master of his own movements. She found the magic that moved them quite fascinating. Probably a highly advanced spell. Having not quite overcome her fascination with Seb's costume yet, Sariss curtsied. "Good evening, court jester. I wonder… Have you come across my prince somewhere in this castle? I have been anxiously awaiting him all evening. Alas, fate conspires against the two lovers and sends a jester in his stead. What is a lady to do?" Sariss raised her hand to her forehead in a gesture of swooning. This damsel in distress act was fun and she was curious as to if and how Seb would play along—and how long she could keep her expression halfway serious and not dissolve into a fit of the giggles.

Sariss curtsied before speaking. "Good evening, court jester. I wonder… Have you come across my prince somewhere in this castle? I have been anxiously awaiting him all evening. Alas, fate conspires against the two lovers and sends a jester in his stead. What is a lady to do?" It was then Sariss raised her hand to her forehead in some dramatic damsel in distress act. “Your prince, you say?” Jester!Seb playfully repeated as he jumped from one food to the other playfully, before doing another on-the-spot jig to make his bells jingle some more. “I do hope he doesn’t return from his journey soon. He may give word to the King to have me beheaded!” Seb let the string work with his head, letting it bob side to side a few times for effect. The charms on the strings were working a treat! Seb began to walk around Sariss, quoting a riddle as he did. “I have holes on the top and bottom. I have holes on my left and on my right. And I have holes in the middle, yet I still hold water. What am I?” He then stopped in front of her once more, grinning quite happily as he tugged on his strings, making his arms wobble about. “If you want your Prince,” Sebastian added, “Try kissing a frog!”

Sandry walked into the party hoping she wasn't late, but didn't want to arrive too early. She decided she had arrived fashionably late. Sandry looked around wondering if anyone she knew was here. Fixing her tiara that topped her beautiful princess costume she came up with by putting together one of the dresses and matching tiara her mother had sent her with some earrings and jewelery. She hoped she looked nice. She switched her weight back and forth on her not too high heels that matched the soft pink dress. Sandry shouldn't have been nervous, she usually never was. Tilting her chin up she walked across the room and took a seat in one of the squishy chairs. Sandry wouldn't go up to someone and start talking to them, she would let them come to her.

Sariss had to suppress a smile as Seb began to perform some sort of court jester dance. "But dear sir, you? Beheaded? What would a court do without a court jester? It would be dreadfully incomplete a cast and fairly boring unless everyone went and got their own jingling little bells. However it would never be the same as none other but yourself possesses the spirits for such an immense task of keeping everyone amused and delighted." Seb began to circle Sariss who turned around so as to follow him with her gaze, but noticed after some two turns that this would make her very dizzy if continued for an all too lengthy amount of time. So she stopped and merely turned her head to the left and right whenever appropriate. The court jester began to cite some sort of riddle. What in the name of Merlin had holes everywhere and yet could hold water? Sariss furrowed her brows in thought. Seb had stopped in front of her and was grinning, tugging on the strings that were attached to his costume and making himself wobble like a puppet. “If you want your Prince, try kissing a frog!” he added cheekily while Sariss was still pondering what could be the answer to this riddle. "…yet it holds water…" she mused. "But, court jester, I don't want to kiss a slimy frog. Perhaps a court jester will turn into a prince as well if kissed? Even though you bear no resemblance whatsoever to a slimy little frog." Sariss looked to the left… then to the right… then back at Seb… and leant in for a kiss. "Is there a prince attached to those strings and jingly bells?"

Cassandra had been quietly talking to Regina, as for some reason, everyone found her too scary to be around, but she jerked her head up upon noticing the boy. 'The boy' being the one who had arrived back at Hogwrts recently, and was already back into the swing of things with his girlfriend. "Get a room!" Cassie called across with a wink. "And not the Prefect dorms!" And Cassie was back into teasing them. Yep yep. Oh, come on. What else was there to do at a Halloween party with limited guests? OOC: *grins* Had to.

Devlin was totally surprised to find out that she had been invited to the super cool Halloween party. She thought that it had been only for mentors and their mentees, and she was über excited that she was allowed to join in on the fun. In the beginning of the year Devlin had actually planned on signing up for a mentor and all that, but, like with lots of things she wanted to do, she had been so not used to not having her mummy to do things for her that she had completely forgotten to sign up and had been to shy to go and ask any of the big older students about it. But as soon as she had found out she was allowed, the little Slytherin had run up to her room and looked for something spiffy to wear. Clearly things as special as this need an a special outfit, and Devlin had tossed her stuff all over the place until she had found the right colours: orange pants and her favourite yellow shirt with hand torn shapes spellotaped onto them. She was a pumpkin! A lit and glowing pumpkin to be exact, with green ribbons in her hair and a bagillion orange bracelets around her wrists. It was hard work perfecting a killer costume last minute, and Devlin ended up being late like always. “Ooooh, wow.” Devlin stared at the spookified common room with wonder. The skeletons were extremely spooky and Devlin was definitely going to try and avoid the boney things at all cost. Devlin smiled warmly at everyone she recognized, and even smiled at a couple of the older students who didn’t look liked they’d transfigure her into a real pumpkin. Being a real pumpkin was a terrible fate, and Devlin didn’t want to chance it; she hated seeds. Devlin didn’t know what to try first, but after a minute of taking it all in she knew she had to do something. There were just so many people! She felt so short around all the older people, and she was just about to go latch on to one of her roommates and be a total pain when she spotted the most beautiful thing in the world: games. Devlin’s eyes lit up instantly, and she bounced excitedly over to the game corner. Games were the most funnest, bestest things evorr.

Ah, I was planning to close it today, but some of you still haven't finished roleplays. I'll leave it up until Wednesday afternoon. Have fun till then. Different group roleplays will probably be set up this week; watch out.

The person Dorcas had attempted to start a conversation with gave her an appalled look, and backed off. 'Bubbles' frowned in confusion, wondering if perhaps her housemate had been scared of the fact that she had super powers and could fight evil, blood-sucking monkeys. Yes, that must be it. With a shrug of indifferent, she scanned the room once again, and caught sight of her roommate, Devlin, wearing the coolest pants Dorcas had ever seen. Orange pants! How awesomely wicked was that. "Hey Debby!" she called out, waving one hand dramatically in the air, trying to catch one of her partner in crime's attention. She wasn't quite sure if Devlin had heard her or not, but caught sight of the girl heading over to another corner of the room. "Follow the green ribbons!" Dorcas announced loudly, and bounced (literally) after Devlin as best she could with her too-small Mary Jane's pinching her toes. "Whee, whee, wheeeeeee!" she yelped as she hopped on one foot towards the games section.
