Sariss swept into the Great Hall, heading for the Slytherin table. It was important that nobody panicked now, so she thought that she would set an example and go about the Christmas Feast as though there had been no Death Eater attacks. It took a lot from her to keep her face straight and not allow a hint of fear to creep into her eyes, but after all, she was waiting for her lovely boyfriend to arrive too, so she'd be fine soon. She was always fine when he was with her. Well... she was fine again now. A couple of days ago that had not been so. She looked around for a free spot, speaking to some frightened first-years on her way there, telling them not to worry too much and to just stay inside the castle now. "Enjoy Christmas," she said. "There's nothing to worry about for as long as you're staying safely inside the castle. The teachers will handle this... and Dumbledore is fine again too! So we should be safe from harm." She gave a small reassuring smile and continued on her way towards the end of the Slytherin table where there was plenty of room for herself and Seb who would hopefully be arriving soon...

Seb entered the Hall feeling quite stupid, like he had been scalped. He had just managed to get the last apointment with a witch in Hogsmeade to cut his hair. Infact he had paid her extra just to fit him in. Obviously Christmas wasnt much of a holiday for her, as most people didn't work at all over the holidays. One part of his mind, the paranoid part, was panicking that everyone was looking and laughing at him with short hair where the 'normal' part reminded him that no one was really laughing at all. Unless is was hysterical from the news of the D.E attack. He spotted Sariss sat at the far end of the Slytherin table, looking adorable as usual. He only hoped she didn't laugh. Sighing, he went to run his hands through his hair to be reminded that it wasn't there to run through no more. Although there were more important things to worry about, today, this moment, his hair was the top. That, and to see if Sari was alright. "Eh heh, hi!" He said after making his way over to her. Pushing the back of his robes back off the bench, he seated himself down next to Sariss. "Merry Christmas!"

Sariss kept looking around, quite idly, nodding here, smiling there, mouthing that all was well and everything... and waiting for Seb. And there he was coming towards her, but... Oy! He... he had his hair cut! Sariss blinked and goggled at him (nothing unusual actually...) as he made his way towards her. He looked a bit apprehensive at his new look. He shouldn't be though, Sariss thought. It suited him well. Very well, actually. If somebody had told Sariss that Seb would have his hair cut short, she would never have thought that it would suit him that well. She'd always thought that he was the most handsome boy in the entire school, but now he was even more to die for than usual. "Merry Christmas, Sebbie," Sariss said and kissed him on the cheek. Then she grinned at him, the outside world forgotten. "My! What have you done to your hair?" She lifted her hand and ran it through his now considerably shorter-than-before hair. It felt just as good as it looked. "Looks great!" This was not in the slightest an exaggeration. However apprehensive Seb was about his new hair-style, it was completely unnecessary of him to be so. "Hello, Ali," she added as an afterthought to the girl who had introduced herself. "Sure, make yourself comfortable." (ooc: But do try and RP decently... Like, complete sentences and proper punctuation. It makes so much more sense when written properly, you know?

Seb smiled as Ali joined them. "Hello, Ali," Sariss had said to the new person in front of them. "Sure, make yourself comfortable." "Hi," Seb joined in, then looked at Sariss. "It looks good? You're just saying that," Seb said, coming over all coy as Sariss ran her hand through his hair. "It feels weird without the long bits." He was close to pouting. "I went to see a witch in Hogsmeade, paid her extra to cut it after she reminded me it was Christmas." It was true, the witch told him she had six children to feed, and two grandchildren, in fact, she all but faked an illness to get more money out of Seb. He would've paid her extra anyway, so her act was for nothing. Smiling, Seb took Sari's hand feeling suddenly really happy. Who cared if his parents didn't send him a card... or a present.. or anything at all? As of this moment, Seb didn't. He had Sariss, and that was all he needed. "So, Ali, how are you?" He said eventually looking away from Sariss.
Posted by: Sariss Nov 4 2003, 12:49 AM
Sariss giggled as Seb told her about the entire story that had led to his hair being cut eventually. She was feeling exceptionally fine now, even with the entire mess that the wizarding world was in. And her own life wasn't less of one. Earlier that day, she had written to her foster parents. The letter had been about her finding out who her father was and how much that confused her. She had not sent it yet. She'd do this in a couple of days. As to Christmas cards or presents... As Sariss's foster parents were as thoroughly Muggle as she was a pureblood, she could not expect to receive any. After all, they did not own an owl, nor would any Muggle post ever arrive at Hogwarts. "You've spent a lot of time in the Duelling Chamber recently," Sariss observed. "Now that Ally is back and some more of the third-years have finally found the way there, we're in for a lot of exciting duels, I think. Have you already picked a few spells that you'd like to learn? There are so many to choose from... I wish Professor Flitwick would hand them out as Christmas presents," she said, half-joking, half-serious.
Posted by: Seb_Darwin Nov 4 2003, 01:02 AM
Seb froze. "Ah. New spells. Er. No." He licked his lips, "I guess that means I should start looking up some new spells? I don't even know if I've gained enough experience to be able to LEARN a new one! I guess it's all up to FlittyWicky, and what he thinks." He leant forward and picked up a goblet, which had suddenly filled up with egg nog. He sniffed it gingerly. Seb hadn't really had egg nog before, and didn't know much what to expect. In fact, he wasn't sure it was egg nog; he just assumed. The table was decorated gloriously. Holly, sparkling tinsel and such were covering the table and Seb noticed above them that the enchanced ceiling was snowing. Now all they needed was a conveniently placed piece of mistletoe! Although, Seb thought, It wasn't like they needed the excuse... "So, m'darlin, what spell do you think I should take a look at? You are my duelling expert, tutor and mentor after all." Seb asked her, grinning cheekily as he tried to avoid the smell of turkey that was wafting towards them. He hoped if he concentrated hard enough on Sariss, he wouldn't feel too sick from the smell. Now he came to think of it, he did wonder what meat he would have in place - if there was an alternative...
Posted by: Sariss Nov 4 2003, 01:22 AM
Sariss blushed a bit. "Oh no, I'm not the expert, Seb. It all depends on your skills. I mean... Look at me... I'm very good at this Shower Charm that Ally showed me earlier this year... But I still haven't figured out how to make my Disarming Spells stronger. I'm totally stuck on that one. Maybe if I ask Professor Flitwick, he might show me that little trick... Ally knows... It's how she disarmed me." Sariss went on and on. As soon as you had her going on about duelling, her mouth seemed to develop a life of its own and kept gushing out words. "Imagine that! I was never disarmed before. At least not that I could remember... And there she goes and just does it. Woah... I was so impressed." Indeed, Sariss hadn't been mad at Ally when she had lost. She only admired Ally even more. After all, it had been Ally who had shown her how the Shower Charm worked. She had been the one who had taught Sariss how to duel just like Sariss had later on taught Seb a bit of it. Not even Christmas could keep Sariss away from the Duelling Chamber, and now that Seb spent a lot of his spare time there too, Sariss was hardly to be found anywhere else. Her mind was in the Duelling Chamber when it wasn't with Seb. "Hmm... I find that Shocking Hex rather nasty..." she mused then. "The sound it makes... this ZZZZZZING! when it's coming towards you... It makes you want to run and hide... Very hard to block too... At least it felt like it. If I'm ever sent to the Hospital Wing, it's going to be that spell that does it--." Sariss broke off and licked her lips as more Christmas food appeared all around the platters with the turkey. There were platters with fish, bowls with potatoes, little porcelain pots filled with various vegetables, among them peas and carrots... All of those appeared on the table. Pitchers filled with various juices appeared too. The plates, forks, knives, spoons, goblets... Everything materialised on the table. The Christmas Feast had now truly begun. "Mmm..." Sariss made, inhaling the spicy scents that wafted towards her, rising from all those steaming platters and bowls. She grabbed a pitcher that was filled with blood-orange juice and poured some of the juice into her goblet. "Want some too?" she asked Seb while she was at it.

Seb listened carefully as Sariss went in-depth about the spells she’s used, and been up against in the duelling chamber, sipping on his egg nog. He nodded in the right places to let her know she had his full attention – which she did, she always did. Hmm... I find that Shocking Hex rather nasty... The sound it makes... this ZZZZZZING! when it's coming towards you... It makes you want to run and hide... Very hard to block too... At least it felt like it. If I'm ever sent to the Hospital Wing, it's going to be that spell that does it--." He highly doubted that Sariss would ever be sent to the hospital wing, one day, and that would be one day soon, Sariss would be able to defeat any student in the whole school, and knowing this made Seb feel very proud. Sariss had stopped talking as the food for the school feast began to appear on the tables, and just his luck, a turkey had to be placed in front of his plates. He wondered what he had done wrong to upset the house elves to deserve this. Stuffing! Seb loved stuffing! He spotted it in a separate dish beside the … blurgh … turkey. Gravy boats sat next to that, followed by the pots of vegetables. Thankfully, Seb had also spotted some other meats too. Sariss had eyed a pitcher of juice and poured some into her goblet. "Want some too?" she then asked him, still holding the pitcher. Seb shook his head. “No thanks, I still have some egg nog left. I see the House Elves have outdone themselves,” He nodded towards the food, “I hope there won’t be too much left over, food is such a terrible thing to waste.” Seb paused a moment as a random, yet Christmas-y thought entered his head, “You know what? This might shock you, but I don’t like Christmas cake, or Christmas pudding, or mince pies.” People around them had already started to dive into their food, chatting merrily; the DE attacks happily forgotten for the time being. “Might as well get stuck him,” He muttered as he reached over with his plate to help himself to the vegetables, gravy, stuffing and the alternate meat which was on the table steaming happily awaiting to be ate. “You know, afterwards we should go outside and play in the snow. Build snowpeople and drop snowballs down unsuspecting first years’ backs!” Seb began to chuckle at the thought as he picked up his fork and knife, “You up for it? It'll be fun! Cold, but fun and we can stay really close to the castle. As in, we build the snowman against the castle wall, near the enterance!” Seb licked his lips, "It can be a guard!" The mere thought of snow made Seb tingle with excitement. He didn't know what it was, but snow always cheered him up .
Posted by: Sariss Nov 4 2003, 02:05 AM
Sariss had filled her plate with roasted potatoes and really crispy baked fish while Seb had been talking. When he started about snow (one of his favourite things on the face of this planet), she was just heaping spoonful after spoonful of peas onto her plate. They were her favourite vegetable. Somehow, Sariss found it amusing when they rolled down over the potatoes... "...As in, we build the snowman against the castle wall, near the enterance! It can be a guard!" Sariss put down the now not nearly as full bowl of peas and looked at Seb. His eyes were shining with happiness and excitement. It was true... Being outside was dangerous, but so closely after a Death Eater attack, when everybody was on guard and alert (the Aurors would surely show up soon again too), it was highly unlikely for another attack to happen. The Death Eaters must know that everybody was only waiting for them to strike again, so they'd surely not strike in the near future--or would they? Sariss bit her lip. "Well... for as long as we're staying near the castle... And if a lot of students were outside, it would help too. The Death Eaters never attacked a large group, have they?" she mused as though nobody were there to listen. A smile spread over her face at the thought of Seb and herself playing in the snow as though they were children. "Yes, let's have a snowball fight and build snow witches and wizards! We'll get so soaked when we do that." And what a lovely excuse that would be to spend the rest of the evening in front of the fire in the Common Room too... She piled a piece of potato and some peas onto her fork and put it into her mouth and chewed. "And afterwards we can sneak into the kitchens and have a cup of hot tea to warm up... and some freshly made treacle fudge maybe," she continued when she could halfway speak again. "Wouldn't want to get a cold after all, would we?" She grinned, remembering how Seb's ears had been steaming when he'd imbibed some Pepper-Up Potion a few weeks ago.

“..And afterwards we can sneak into the kitchens and have a cup of hot tea to warm up... and some freshly made treacle fudge maybe, wouldn't want to get a cold after all, would we?" Sariss grinned at him. “No, we wouldn’t,” Seb agreed raising an eyebrow playfully at Sariss, “But I’ve been inoculated against it, so I better change that ‘we’ to ‘you.” He pushed a few brussel sprouts around on his plate. It was strange; he didn’t even remember putting them there. As with most people, Seb hated brussel sprouts. It was another thing he needed to at to his mentally compiled list if ‘I hate to eat’ foods. Happily, Seb took a few mouthfuls of potatoes and carrots, followed by a gulp of egg nog. It was commonly known Seb didn’t use his table manners if it wasn’t absolutely necessary. The couple ate in silence for a few minutes until Seb spotted some Christmas crackers scattered about their table. After putting down his fork, he picked a silver one up and lightly prodded Sariss in the shoulder with it. He playfully chuckled, hoping Sariss wouldn’t mind the minor interruption from her meal. It was all in fun, after all. “I love you,” He added just in case.

"Hmm?" Sariss made when Seb prodded her in the shoulder. She swallowed the bite of fish that she'd been chewing on and turned towards him, placing her fork back down on her plate with a little clicking noise. “I love you,” Seb said. And as though he had pressed a button, her cheeks flushed pink and the corners of her mouth twitched into a smile. "I love you too," Sariss said and took hold of the Christmas cracker. With a sharp PLOP! (It must be charmed to make this somewhat funny noise--or Sariss was just too easily amused that day...) it tore open and a paper hat all but jumped into Sariss's face. She squealed and broke into a fit of the giggles as she grabbed the hat and put it on her head. Then she posed just for fun and said in a perfectly serious tone of voice, "How does one look this lovely evening? Posh, no?"
Posted by: Seb_Darwin Nov 4 2003, 03:03 AM
The cracker was pulled, and in stead of the usual crack, it … plopped! The hat flew at Sariss who let out a laugh, then placed the hat on her head. "How does one look this lovely evening? Posh, no?" She asked, keeping her tone serious. “Simply spiffing, dah’ling, simply spiffing!” He replied, putting his hand to his chin, studying the hat. “But it would look simply superb if it was like this…” And with a wink, Seb took of the hat, to replace it on her head at an angle. “Now to see what I won!” He picked up the side of cracker he had up off the table and looked inside it. There was a slip of paper with a joke on, and… “What the nora is this?” Seb asked, holding up what looked like a flat green deflated rubber balloon. Turning it over in his hands, he read the logo on the front. “Whoopee .. cushion?!” With a shrug he placed it back on the table. “Ok,” Seb pulled out the piece of paper with the joke on, “Knock. Knock?” “Who’s there?” Sariss asked, “Hanna!” Seb then replied, grinning, Sariss smiled, “Hanna who?” “Hanna partridge in a pear tree.” Seb finished the joke and began to laugh. The joke wasn’t that funny, but simple things…… He turned back to his food, placing down the strip with the joke on, "Oh, that's a classic, that is..."
Posted by: Sariss Nov 4 2003, 08:59 PM
Sariss was giggling madly at Seb's antics. The joke might not have been funny in itself, but when you were having such a good time as Seb and Sariss usually and especially that day had, it wasn't important anymore. When they were both enjoying themselves, it usually made for inexplicable fits of the giggles on Sariss's part. Eventually, they calmed down enough to finish their meal. It was a good timing too, as more Christmas goodies appeared on the table. Dessert. Puddings, cakes, cookies... There was anything that a child's heart could desire on a Christmas day. Sariss pitied the people who went home for the holidays. They never knew how great the Christmas Feast really was. Words could not describe it. "Uff... I swear after these holidays, I'll have to duel a lot to be only able to mount the broomstick for the next Quidditch game again," Sariss grinned and grabbed a cookie. "Oooh, walnut halves!"

*Peeves had just about regained his old spirit after his recent bout of illness, the trashing of the Divination classroom and glitterfying of Wood and Oak had helped but he just couldn't resist the sight of the two loved up Slytherdums. Grinning and pulling out the last of his Green shreeking tinsle he sprang upon Sariss and started to spin around and around her and Seb tyign them into a very festive bow before pelting them with stink pellets. "Merry christmas yound lovers! adu adu."
Posted by: Jennifer Moore Nov 4 2003, 10:26 PM
Jennifer had seen Peeves floating around the hall and had decided to go check if he did any damage. She wouldn't mind a reason to report him. He was extremely annoying to say the least. Well so far she had seen him bombard the teachers but Jennifer was pretty sure they could fix themselves up and decided to follow Peeves to his next target. "Sariss!" She called and looked torn between bursting with giggles and being ever annoyed at the poltergeist. She went over to Sariss and what Jennifer briefly recognised at Sariss' boyfriend, (Names was silly details she couldn't bother to remember) and raised her eyebrows "Need any help?"
Posted by: The Bloody Baron Nov 4 2003, 10:37 PM
"PEEEEEEEEEEEEVES!" *The Bloody Baron roared, floating through the floor and after the brightly coloured poltergeist. "GET DOWN HERE YOU OFFENSIVE LITTLE SPRAT!"
Posted by: Rysa Evans Nov 4 2003, 10:38 PM
Peeves. That meant trouble was near. Peeves with something in his hands, nearing her friend Sarissy, of course, meant that she had to get there in case anything happened. Rysa got there as fast as she can without breaking into a jog from the other side of the Great Hall. She got there too late though, because when she got near Sarissy she could already smell Peeves' stink pellets. Panting slightly from the walk, she muttered the charm to save her friend, and the Feast from the horrible smell. "Scourgify!"
Posted by: Peeves Nov 4 2003, 10:43 PM
*Peeves stopped spinning in mid air and blanched, going a horrible shade of mustard. "Your b-b-b-baroness d-d-d-didn't see you there, Excuse Peeve's little jokes, no harm meant no hamr done hey." The look on Peeve's face was indescribable as he looked with upmost horror at the Baron. "I'll just be off, left something in one of the classrooms...must go." *Peeves floated and bowed his way out of the hall, turning and zooming at full speed. Not looking back.
Posted by: The Bloody Baron Nov 4 2003, 10:44 PM
The Baron snarled derisively as he watched Peeves zoom away. "And STAY away," he snapped.

Sariss hadn't even had time to gasp or scream when Peeves suddenly pulled the bow very tightly around Seb and herself. That it itself was a situation that did not exactly have to be rememdied any time soon, as Sariss enjoyed nothing as much as being as close to Seb as possible at all. But when Peeves began to throw stink pellets at them (the smell gave them away as such quite clearly), it had ceased to be quite as much fun. This year, being pelted with things seemed to be one of Sariss's favourite pastimes. Something about her seemed to magically attract all sorts of odd people/poltergeist who enjoyed nothing more than to ruin her fun at any special occasion that arose. She was beginning to see a pattern there. "Jenni," she exclaimed, quite relieved as she saw her fellow prefect approach. "Care to help us out of this bow?" Sariss coughed at the smell. "Seb... I think we're both in for a long shower... Oh... Hello, Rysa." "Scourgify!" the Hufflepuff prefect chanted. Sariss smiled gratefully at her. Rysa was always there when she was needed. She was one the few people that Sariss could always rely on, no matter what. That had taken care of most of the smelliness. "Thank you!" Sariss breathed, throwing a smile at Rysa. Then she looked at Seb. "You know... That smell... It would have secured us a lot of privacy... Shame on you, Rysa," she mock-scolded the Hufflepuff girl, grinning. Hmm... that voice... Sariss knew the voice of this boy. It usually sounded much more frightened though. "Spikey... Don't point and laugh at the people you have a duelling appointment with or might have in the near future," she smirked at the boy. "Come sit with us, Jenni and Rysa!" Sariss then said and pointed towards all the seats that had miraculously emptied when Peeves had come sweeping in. "Unless you have somewhere else to be, that is..."
Posted by: Seb_Darwin Nov 4 2003, 11:23 PM
"Yeah," Seb agreed, "Come sit with us! Mind you, we do woft a bit still..." He trailed off as he sniffed his arm, to pull back cringing. "You know, I've never had a Christmas quite like this... I don't know if that's a good thing though." He sighed as he looked to where the Bloody Baron went after Peeves. "Thank god he was here, eh?" I wonder if Sariss wants to play in the snow still? He looked up at one of the high windows. The snow was still collecting on the window, so that was a good sign. Seb reached over to the deserts on the table, and brought some up to his nose. "Ah poo. It bloody stinks too!" With a pout, he placed the bowl of desert back down, and crossed his arms.
Posted by: Sariss Nov 5 2003, 12:01 AM
"Yes... I guess," Sariss said, the Christmas spirit having as good as evaporated entirely. She had been so successful in forgetting about the Death Eaters and everything else that came with them. She had even managed to forget about little Dawn McNaught who was still in the Hospital Wing... But seeing Peeves had reminded her of how much trouble the poltergeist had caused Dawn, and so Sariss's thoughts were troubled again too. Neither Jenny nor Rysa seemed to be too intent on sitting near them. And even though the smelly table cloths and the ruined food disappeared and was replaced with fresh delicacies, the interruption that Peeves had caused had ruined the entire day for Sariss. Her good mood was a fragile thing, especially when it had had to be forced into existence in the first place. It had taken a lot out of Sariss to act halfway normally in the beginning, reassuring the younger students and all. Only Seb had been the reason why she really enjoyed herself. His sense of humour, his giddy mood. But now that that was gone, Sariss was gone too. She sighed and gave Seb a pleading look. "Let's get out of here, Seb. I'm not hungry anymore." She just wanted to curl up somewhere.
Posted by: Seb_Darwin Nov 5 2003, 12:32 AM
Seb let a sign escape his lips once Sariss had asked them to leave. She suddenly looked quite miserable, and when she was sad, he became sad. And it was all that Peeve's fault too. He was sure that even if he tried to cheer her up by acting goofy it wouldn't make much different. He stood up and stepped over the bench, careful not to trip over his robes and held out a hand for Sariss to help her up. "Well then, let's go to the Common Room," Seb said softly, feeling quite sad. But, Sariss came before the snow, he reminded himself. "If we get there now, we can get the decent fireplace seats." Seb then said, placing a small kiss on her forehead.
Posted by: Sariss Nov 5 2003, 12:42 AM
Sariss gave a little sigh when Seb pulled her close to kiss her (probably smelly) forehead. "I think I need a bath first..." she said half-heartedly, trailing off. She was so unimaginably sad and angry and disappointed that this otherwise quite lovely day had had to find such and end. Yes, there had been Death Eater attacks. Yes, there were a lot of students injured. But she had managed so well not to think about any of it all. As if her life had not been screwed up enough recently. No, even the small things were stolen from her. Little carefree moments were ruined. Sariss felt sorry for Seb too. She knew that he would have loved to play in the snow after dessert, but the damage was done, and nothing could bring their previous good mood back. With a small regretful smile, Sariss left the table, Seb's hand in hers being her only means of comfort. She vowed that she would get Peeves back for this. Sariss was quick with picking up on spells... and there must be one that would show Peeves that Sariss Electra Ravon was not to be messed with, no matter whether it were the living or the dead who crossed her.
