Between
the intrigues of Arthur's half-sister Morgan LeFay, Queen of Gore, and
her lover, Sir Accolon of Gaul; and the rebellious plotting of King Lot
of Lothian and Orkney and King Mark of Cornwall, tensions ran high at
Excalibur that day. It all came to a boil at the Royal Tournament in
the afternoon. First, Sir Maligrance (John Miller, left) crossed swords with the Elven warrior Vala Arfiniel (Sheilagh Gallagher, right) in hand-to-hand combat.
Then Sir Bedivere (Kevin DuBose, left) took up a staff against Merlin (David Baxter, right).

Their
swords rang as Queen Vanatari and King Mark closed for battle. King
Mark proved his unchivalrous ways with several low blows to the Elven
Queen, but Queen Vanatari prevailed in the end. Finally, (Photo, Below), Sir Maligrance challenged King Arthur (Paul Clontz, right)
himself to single combat! As expected, Arthur defeated Sir Maligrance
handily, but then the caitiff knight took a cheap shot as Arthur
proclaimed his victory. Fortunately, the magick of Excalibur saved
Arthur's life, but Maligrance's craven blow thoroughly incensed Queen
Guenivere. She stormed out onto the field and promptly pummeled
Maligrance into submission with surprising speed, using unarmed combat
only! Truly, she was a Queen fit to rule a United Britain!
