As far back as I can remember I have felt a drive to excel in life and reach my dreams. Since the age of 15 I began a long, and often exhausting, quest for the answers to life, success and happiness.I sought the answers to life’s questions in religion and although I found some solace there it did not give me the spiritual guidance that I was looking for. I turned to science, and back then, the physical laws of the Universe did not seem to explain why life was so unfair and success so elusive. It wasn’t until later, in my very early twenties, that I discovered esoteric and metaphysical teachings. Although the concepts they covered resonated with my soul they were mostly impractical and unusable in the "real world". Then by chance I stumbled upon personal development. This seemed to hold the key to real change. The promises personal development gurus offered were spell-binding, enthralling and the seeming endless possibilities for self improvement, financial success and spiritual enlightenment were exciting and motivational. At 24 I set my first real goals and began immediately to put into practise what I had learned from previous years of self improvement study. I was sure I would be a self-employed millionaire within five years, married to my soul mate, have a varied interesting and enlightened social circle and be well on my way to spiritual enlightenment. If only I had known then what I know now! The Problem with Personal Development
I had big plans and even bigger dreams. It seemed all I had to do was follow some instructions put in some hard work and like the gurus promised, success and happiness would find me. Unfortunately my life never worked out that way.
By the age of 31 my life was in a worse state than when I began. After a lot of soul-searching, numerous personal development courses, seminars, books and tapes I was still unfulfilled. My emotional state was in turmoil. I was aggressive, with a short temper, and jumped from one action plan to the next. This was mostly due to frustration and lack of progress with my goals although as I was to later learn it stemmed from a much earlier source. I worked for a company that undervalued me in a job that left me unfulfilled and could never have utilized my natural talents. My relationships were non-existent! My finances were a mess and my home was about to be repossessed. I had also been suffering for several years with an undiagnosed stomach problem that would leave me writhing in pain and eventually hospitalized. Life was hard! The Personal Development SolutionFor over 20 years I have studied personal development and self improvement. I have personally spent tens of thousands of dollars on self improvement products, services and remedies. I have sought the advice of gurus, health professionals, psychological experts and self-made millionaires. I have studied ancient religions and remedies and almost every personal development course on the planet. All in the hope that I could better my life and gain more control over my mind, my emotions, my health and my destiny.Some of these personal development aids were helpful and moved me forward in life but many others were not and actually slowed down my progress. So, it is my wish that the knowledge that I have gained the hard way will be a useful motivator to those seeking a more efficient route to self-improvement. I have used everything I know to change my life. It is unrecognizable now. I am in perfect health, financially secure and in a loving relationship. What I have learned was worth the years of toil and heartache. However, from where I am now I watch people excel in career, relationships and finance while others, who are more intelligent, have higher values and a better disposition are left on the sidelines through no fault of their own! It is time to address the fact that only a tiny percentage of the world’s population control the rest! It is time to become the master of your own destiny. What We OfferI created this site in the hope that it would, not only be motivational but, be of help to those souls who feel a little overwhelmed by the amount of personal development, self improvement and motivation products available or who are, as I once was, frustrated with their progress and the unfulfilled promises made by so-called experts.When I entered a search for "personal development", Google, kindly, returned a lot of sites. Unfortunately I couldn't find one that actually gave me an informative description and critique of the products they were trying to 'push' on me. So, hence this site was born. This site is designed to share with you the pros and cons of a myriad of personal development and self improvement products that we have tested and use regularly. I have enlisted the help of like-minded volunteers who have also struggled to reach their goals. They share with you the best and worst of their personal experiences with their own development processes. They tell you what they really think of the personal growth, development & motivational tools that they have used and I even got them to test new ones! Therefore please note that not all the personal development product reviews are by the same person. In most cases they are a conglomerate of several reviewers experiences. We have also reviewed some key motivational speakers who can help you reach peak performance levels which can be found under the categories books and audios . I have been asked on many occasions why we do not review products that fall short on their promises and give detailed reasoning for our lack of enthusiasm for them. This, to me, is a pointless waste of your time and mine! We all want the same thing - results! So that is all we concentrate on. I could fill a hundred sites with products that don't work! I understand that different people have different approaches to personal growth and therefore have included reviews of products that use a variety of different means for achieving this from hypnosis to self improvement computer software.
