| Objective: |
| This CD-ROM/Webpage is
to provide a quick and easy way of viewing the
skills I have gained in my 22 years of being a
computer enthusiast, to prospective employers. |
| Introduction: |
I began using computers
in early high school, 1982, and soon after bought
my own Apple ][e computer, using money from a
summer job. The computer course offered in school
was for grade 10 and up, and being in grade nine,
I went ahead and began my own study for my first
year.
Computers progressed, and being an enthusiast I
went through many computers, often porting my
programming source code to the new system and
translating it by hand to fit the new language.
Having started programming and using these old
systems has given me the ability to assemble and
test my programs without the use of debuggers.
Apple Computers lost their appeal to me and I
chose to purchase an Amiga Commodore 500, which
looked like a contender for the PC market. The C
language was starting to catch on, and was
available to be installed to an Amiga. I
purchased it and began the daunting task of
leaning my first real object oriented language,
creating the start of a submarine simulator game
I still have today.
The Commodore Company had a hostile takeover
leaving their computers unsupported and, I was
forced to buy an IBM or go back to Apple
Macintosh. I selected a 486 IBM machine with
windows 3.11, loaded it up with Borland C++
version 3.1, and I have progressed with IBM based
machines since. |
