Born on February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York. Michael Jeffrey Jordan and his family decided to move to Wilmington, North Carolina when he was at the age of 1-2. Jordan is the fourth of five children. Michael's dad work at an electric plant while his mom labored at a bank. Playing baseball, basketball and football were his hobbies when he was a child. His preferred sport at that time was baseball but after he began spending a lot of time on the basketball court, his outlook changed. Larry his older brother continuously kept beating him when they played one-on-one, determined to win he practiced everyday. Jordan grew from 5'11" to 6'3", he had improved greatly as a player.

By the time Jordan was finishing his senior year at Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina, he had grown to 6'5" and attained a basketball scholarship from the University of North Carolina. Jordan's popularity began at UNC where he made a last minute winning shot in the NCAA championship game. There he became NCAA College Player of the Year (1983 & 1984). Jordan left his junior season after averaging 17.7 ppg(points per game) for his career.

Next to it summer of 1984, Jordan played on the US Men's Olympic Basketball Team under head coach Bobby Knight. The US won all eight of the games by an average of 32.1 points per game. Jordan led the team. Two months after the Olympics, Jordan turned to the NBA with the Chicago Bulls (winning the NBA Rookie of the year Award). There he became even more popular with his advertising career (NIKE). His first two years in the game made an average of 29.3 ppg even he got problem in leading his team to a championship. People thougth that he was just simply a one man show. In addition to that Jordan went down with a broken bone in his left foot. He was voted to the All-Star squad but was unable to play because of the injury. He came back even better by becoming the first player to top 3,000 points in a season. He also became the first player in league of history to record 200 steals and 100 blocked shots in a season. By that time Jordan averaged 35.7 ppg.

In 1987-88 season rookies like Scottie Pippen & Horace Grant were joined to the Bulls. In this season Jordan won every major honor like Most Valueable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, selection to the All-NBA First Team, selection to the All-Defensive First Team, an All-Star Game MVP Award, and the NBA Slam-Dunk Championship.

Jordan led the Bulls to three consecutive World Championships (1991, 1992 and 1993). Earning his two straight MVP Award in his career and three straight NBA Finals MVP. Jordan retired from the NBA after the mysterious death of his father. Jordan left the NBA scoring 20,000th point of his career. After proving that he was the best basketball player in the world, Jordan tried baseball following his father's advice.

In 1995, Jordan made a surprise return to basketball but his games looked rusty. Bulls didn't win the Championship in that season. People thought that he can't play the type of the game that he used to play for he was gone for a long time. Jordan dissapointed and determined he got ready for the next year's season.

In 1996, Jordan led the Bulls to their best regular season record and once again three consecutive Championship title (1996,1997 and 1998).

Jordan decided to retire after winning his last Championship in 1999, leaving his 29,000th career points and 5,000th career assist. Mainly due to his decision to dedicate his life to his wife Juanita, and their three children, Jeffrey, Marcus and Jasmine.
