Film fans in Germany are threatening a boycott unless cinema managers reduce the amount of adverts shown before films. It's reported cinema-goers have to sit through about 50 minutes of adverts even before trailers begin.
Some audiences in Berlin were left stranded after going to see a screening of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It had been scheduled to start at 10.15pm, but because of 45 minutes of ads, it didn't end until 1.30am by which time the city's public transport system had stopped for the night.
And then there's us spoiled Americans complaining about 15 minutes of ads and previews. =)
One of the main supporters of the (valiant, if unsuccessful) fan campaign to get actor Jason Carter cast as Sirius Black has written to inform us that a conversation with WB's PoA casting office yielded the quote, "The part's on offer, it's gone." They did not say who it went to, did not say a deal was made, and we remind you that this person could have just wanted to get off the phone. Speculate as you will...
Gary Oldman's manager said that Gary had been offered the role, and I would consider this as further confirmation, even if a name wasn't mentioned.

"I don't know if 'dark' is the word for it because there's a great deal of humor (in the third tale)," Cuaron says. "I would say that rather than going into darker territory, it goes into more emotional territory. Because the characters are a little bit more grown up, the experience is completely different. In the first two books, the fear was outside, like a boogie man. But here, the fear comes from inside. When you're 13, you stop believing in the boogie man and start dealing with the monsters inside."
This is not confirmation, but our reader Sara tells us that Book V is being listed on the Barnes & Noble employee database as available on none other than Harry's birthday, July 31, 2003 - and seems to be accepting pre-orders. Again, this sounds like a "safe" date that can change at any moment (the B&N database has given false positives before, and the online store still says she's putting the finishing touches on) - but it certainly sounds like the next few weeks will yield a decision from Bloomsbury.
