So What are Jello Shots Anyway?

The simple answer is; jello shots are a fast way to speed up a slow party! Even if the party is already swinging, bringing out your secret weapon of jello shots combinations made in new unique and exciting ways will ensure your party is still being talked about weeks later!

Now before you run off to start making your own unique jello shots, with either these all new Jello Shot Kits or with the amazing ultra cool Artic Ice Shots, you must ensure you read the recipes below so that your water to alcohol ratio exactly right! Although jello shots can be made as strong as you like (to really get the party started) it is important to get your ratios correct for a couple of reasons:

  •   Your jello shots might not set if your ratios are wrong! Just remember that
alchohol has a different solidifying or freezing point than water or jello. So,
even though you can make jello shots that will blow the head off your friends make
sure your alchohol to water ratio is correct ;-)

  •   Jello shots are very sweet, it is easy to get forget the potency of the alcohol
         being used.

  • Arctic Ice Shots - Now You Can Have Your Shot and Eat it Too!!!!

Just what Are Arctic Ice Shots?

Arctic Ice Jello Shots are the coolest new product to sweep the nation, gives the spirits a chilling taste experience and smoothness to be remembered!

Imagine taking a shot of your favorite liquor? Now imagine the glass you just drank out of was made from your favorite fruit juice, mixer, or jello. That's Arctic Ice Shot, a plastic cup (with top) designed to mold the jello contents into the shape of a shot glass in just a few easy steps.

Acrtic Ice Shot has eliminated the bite of a hard shooter with its radical new edible shot glass, this chilling new experience will change the way we take jello shots forever! Plastic moulds for making the jello shot glasses out of ice. Comes in set of six with a tray. Totally re-usable and dishwasher safe. Simple to use and only take 4 hours in the freezer. Comes with recipe booklet.

You can of course create your own jello shot recipes, and eat the shot glass after you are finished downing the jello shots. The average time jello shots will last at room temperature is 20 min.

Mix the Jello Shots mix with two cups (16 ounces) of boiling water until the jello powder is fully dissolved then add the rest of the water and the alcohol. Pour the Jello Shots mixture into either small glasses or paper cups. Jello shots look more attractive in shot glasses though, but the paper cups are easier to eat from and the drinker can turn the paper cups inside-out to more easily eat the rest.

If the schnapps in the Jello Shots mixture is higher than about 60 proof, the Jello Shots may not set the way you plan, because of the diminished quantities of liquid, this mixture creates Jello Shots that is quite solid. If you prefer a less rubbery jello shot, double the amount of water and alcohol to attain the perfectly soft and easily downable jello shot.

    The Origins of Jello Shots

Jello Shots origins have been shrouded in mystery, it is unclear exactly where the first one came from, below is a time line of the jello dessert, how it was created, who the main powers where behind the creation, when it was patented and finally made in a alcoholic beverage.

Jello Shots - Of In The Early Days

How did people back in the early days get the Jello to set?
If they used iceboxes to set their jello shots, where did they get ice in August?

From the time the first Jello Shots were first introduced in the latter half of the 19th century, jellt shots were made using boiling water and left on the counter to set.

Jello Shots do not need refrigeration nor ice cubes to set, placing your Jello Shots in the fridge or on ice merely speeds up the setting process. By 1924 it was advertised that Jello Shots could be cooled rapidly by dissolving a packet of jello in half a pint of boiling water and then adding half a pint of ice water and setting the jello in ice.

mix and match the jello shots
How "Jello Shots" Almost Never Made It

Once upon a time there was a man named Cooper and in 1845 he got his hands on the patent for the jello dessert, then along came a cough manufacturer named Pearl B Wait and in 1895 he bought the jell-o patent from Cooper and Pearl turned it into a prepackaged product which they named JELLO

But they just couldnt market it so along came this school dropout named Frank Woodward, who at the age of 20 brought the Jello patent for a $450, who at first he was also quite unsuccessful at marketing the product and after a while he decided to get rid of it, he was about to sell it for $35, until shortly before the sale was went ahead Jello took off and was start to sell phenomenally and by 1906 Jello sales had reached a massive $1,000,000.

Be Careful Of What Might Stop your "Jello Shots " From Setting

The mystery into what could stop your jello shots from setting has been solved, the key is not to use any fresh or frozen pineapple, kiwi fruit, figs, mangoes, guava or papaya, or fresh ginger in the mix.

These particular items all contain an enzyme which keeps Jello Shots from setting. However if they are cooked or come from a can then your Jello Shots will set without much of a porblem

Can You Really Light a Jello Shot On Fire?

The answer is yes you can. The higher the level of alcohol in the jello shot mix the more chance of it catching fire.

There are a number of hard liquors that can be used in jello shot making, but for the best effect try to use liquors over 150 proof or 75%.

The 2 best liquors to use when making these concoctions are either Bacardi 151 rum which stands at 75% alcohol or Everclear grain alcohol which between 95-100% alcohol.

Just place your Jello Shots in a safe place when lighting (such as a frying or something to that idea)and set a match beside the Jello Shots and stand well back and watch as the blue flames rise, it is really cool to watch.

The 3 men below are the mainly most responseable for the creation of jello in the early days.

The first man Peter Cooper held the very first patent on jello.
the father of the early jello shots

The second is a man called Pearl B Wait who bought the jell-o patent of Cooper and developed the first fruit-flavored version of jello.
    The second jello shots creator

Then the last mostly mainly responsible for the creation of jello is Orator Francis Woodward a college drop out who bought the jello patent for $450 and was about to sell it for $39 sometime later just before it boomed at the begining of the 1900's.
