Chickamin Charlie!

Charlie is a wonderful horse, and has had it very well for almsot twenty years now. Born from two paints, mother being Penny Forecast, and father being C.B. CB was a special horse, and had very well known blood lines. I would consider Charlie well bred and his former owners did as well and that is why he spent foreteen years of his life as stallion. Porducing six registered pain foals, he was successful as a stallion but was gelded before he was sold to my step mother. She owned him, rode and and loved him for a few yers before she became pregnent and handed him over to me. I worked with him, and loved him from the instint I saw him.

Charlie is a bay tobiano. A wide blaze covers his face, and all four of his legs are white. His tails is mostly white, but has a hiden stripe of black in it. The main is mostly white, but has one black stripe in the middle, and then write on the bridle path is is also black making his forlock black, and unforchantly it is very short. His main is nice, and long along with his tail. His body is gorgeous, and i love his markings. You can see the picture I will list later on for future reference.

He did had a few injuries with me, and one that I know of before I got him. I am not sure on the story, but I beleive he got stuck in a fence and tore up his right hind leg. There is a bubble like scare and the hair no longer grows in blotches around the area. The one major time h ewa sinjured with me was last winter when he was out in his feild and I think he stumbled in the mudd and twisted his ankle. He ha dno broken bones, but it was very swollena nd he could not walk well. I think that has been okay, but does seem to hurt him when his legs are stiff(just as the other one does). Other things had been when mares were in hea, he would chase them all day and his legs could get stocked up, he aslo had a rock stuck in his foot, but those were minor.

I would love to see Charlie to go to a home where people understand Charlie, where they don't work him to hard, or arn't to rough on him. Yes, he might need a little riding work, but he is almost twenty and did well for his life. An ex jumper, and a stallion of 14 years along with a trail horse and then a kids first horse. Being through many owners, but I know he loves me bunches. When I go to the barn when im sad, he always makes me smile. He's so goofy, and just looking at his cute little face makes me smile and wanna hug him all day. I want him to go to a person who would care for him, brush him, let him run around, lunge him and light work. I could probably handle the work if it was a thought about work schedule and was kept up. He is a horse where you can't justg et on him every 3 months and excpect him perfect. He will try his best, but he needs a warm up not only with a slight attitude, but his legs need ot stretch so if one was to ride him actively again, iw oudl hope that they understood that and know that he sometimes gets very sore if you work him to hard on his first day and would need to be worked regularly to keep up his body.

Charlie is larger, and muscular horse. He is adorable, and has some jowls since he was a stallion. He has a nice rear end, and straight legs, though one of his front leg is twisted in a little, but the farrie cuts his foot a certain way where it does not matter. Though his feet are white, they are nice and hard for a paints feet. They have always held up, and he doesnt always need shoes unless yourt aking him on gravely and rocky trails. The feet, shots and worming have been cared for and he has never coliced, nor foundered. The people at the barn where I board him say he is the easiest keeper int he world. You ca give him the crapiest, cheapest hay and he'll get fat off of it. As long as he gets some attention, gets his time with the horsey friends, and gets his food he is fine and does not get to huge.

Currently I am feeding him about 3 small flakes of grass hay and a third of a coffe can of senior feed, or rolled oats. He does well with that, but if I do have alfalfa, I would lower it to 2 small flakes of grass, a little less of the grain and one flake of the alfalfa. He gets his water, and is put out everyday. He get slet out anywhere from 7Am to 9AM and usually get brought in at 6 or 7. Some days are earlier, some are later, but it does not matter much to him and doesnt depress him or change his stomach. If needed, he cna stay out all night. Easy, easy keeper.

As far as the ground manners go, he is an angel. He stayed within a few steps from you, and if you ask he will stay right by you and I have had him trotting slowly and with small steps while I continue to walk my normal walking pace. He does not bite, kick, rear or scare you. Int he last 2 years, I have worked mostly on hsi respect, and how to treat people. There is no eating others hay when you walk down the aile, there is no steppign on peoples feet, there is no biting people, there is no putting your ears back. He is a good boy, and knows that he better be. I do not beat, him, but I do dicipline him with a smack on his mouth when he trys to eat others food, or when he does something bad. When he walks infront of me I make sure to stop and make him back up witihn a few seconds so he knows what he did wrong. I love his ground manners, and that probably is his best feature.

But when it comes to riding, he is a whole nother animal. Walking it fine, trotting usually is fine as long a sthe reins are tighter(he was an english horse before...) and as long as you are clear with your asks. He cna be touchy some days, and other days he is lazy and just wants to be sat on and petted. You have to work with him, and if you do it will be better for both of ya. As far as the lope goes, he picks up his left lead but has major problems with the right. I think he might have fallen or been kicked in the past and so it makes it accualy hurt to pick it up. He will eventually pick it up, but it will not be as confy, and he will usually be slower and more stubborn. If the right person was to work with him and ride him, he would be fine, its just currently the area I ride in is not closed off any more, so I can't do as much becase if I was to fall off, or something, he woul run away.. and that is not good so I try and do as much as possible with what I am given. Personally, I would rather him go to a person who was either like a trainer, or could have a daily or weekly traisner when riding or just use him as a best friend or a pasture pall. If that be it, he is a lovely horse and will do you well.

I am asking about 1400 dollars for him, but me, my father and my step mother will probably consider most offers. So please, don't hold back with emailing me and even calling me though that might not be the best way because I have school, and where I live(with my mom and step dad) other people might answer and have no clue whats going on so email me first please! :)

Here are some pictures I have of him - -

This one a few weeks after I got him, fairly old but he has not changed much. This is also the winter when he is darker.

This was a year or two before I got him, but i had met him before since he was my step moms.

Again, never a few steps behind me.
