The Pearl and the Body of Light

There are three types of energy in man. There is the sexual essence, centered in the genitals, the life-force, centered in the solar plexus, and spiritual energy, centered in the head. The sexual essence is transformed into life-force, which is in turn transformed into spiritual energy. This Work creates the Pearl and the Body of Light of the Immortal.

Movement of Energy

There are several mechanisms by which energy is moved within the human system, and these methods need to be practiced in order to accomplish the Great Work. The most important of these methods is control of the breathing. Its important to remember that if you do only active meditations, you will not learn to still the mind; if the mind is not stilled, it cannot be overcome and the Great Work will not be attained. Do not eat or drink for 30 minutes after finishing a meditation.

Abdominal Breathing

  1. Exhale and pull in the abdomen and stomach toward the spine.
  2. The chest and sternum (breastbone) relax and sink. Don't use any force. If you feel a slight pull or flattening of the chest, this is sufficient.
  3. Inhale slowly through the nose. Try to keep the chest and stomach flat as you do.
  4. Fill the lungs with air. Breathe down to the diaphragm and feel it push downward.
  5. The abdomen expands on all sides (not just in front), like a beach ball, as you inhale. There is minimal or no expansion of the chest and/or stomach region above the navel.
  6. When you've reached full capacity without straining yourself, exhale slowly contracting the abdomen with slight muscular force and relax the diaphragm.
  7. The inhalation and exhalation should be slow, uninterrupted, of equal length and as silent as you can do them. You have made real progress when the breath becomes imperceptible.
  8. Do at least three breaths - inhalation and exhalation - initially. If you can, do nine or more each time you exercise.

Bellows Breathing

Inhale and exhale rapidly, expanding and contracting the abdomen with short, quick Abdominal Breaths. Breath in and out through your nose. Do eighteen quick breaths. The navel should become much warmer.

Reverse Breathing

  1. Begin by doing three Abdominal Breaths. At the final exhalation pull in your lower abdomen and flatten your stomach.
  2. Inhale slowly and pull the lower abdomen toward your spine. As you do this, you will feel a downward pressure on your perineum (between the back of your sexual organs and the front of your anus).
  3. Pull up on your perineum and sexual organs and simultaneously push down and lower your diaphragm.
  4. Exhale and release the sexual organs and diaphragm. Imagine that you are exhaling right through the walls of the lower abdomen, which expands on all sides.
  5. Do at least six Reverse Breaths at each session.

The Three Pumps

In addition to the breath, energy is also moved by the use of three energy pumps: the perineum pump, the sacral pump and the cranial pump. Initial activation of these pumps requires proper alignment of the shoulders. Stand with your back against something flat, such as a wall or door. Lift your tongue to the roof of your mouth. Pull up on the perineum (first pump) while tilting in the bottom of the sacrum (second pump), so that your lower back is flush against the wall. As you pull in your lower sacrum, your lower abdomen will feel slightly pulled in. Round and drop your shoulders as you activate the cranial pump (third pump) by pushing your neck and the back of your head against the wall, pulling in your chin and straightening the back of your neck.

Circulation of the Light

The Work is started with the Circulation of the Light. The Light is circulated by a combination of breathing and visualization. Proper breathing will "light the inner fire" and the eyes start the circulation by turning their gaze inward.

Close the Two Front Gates

Sexual energy is the only energy in man that increases when it is aroused. This energy is constantly lost, and only by learning to conserve the energy and transform it can the Great Work be attained.

For men, the first gate is located in the opening at the tip of the penis. For women, the first gate is the opening of the vagina. If you put your concentration here, you can close off the opening. For men, the second gate is located at the base of the penis, where it is attached to the body; just behind this point is the urogenital diaphragm. For women, the second gate lies inside the vagina at the urogenital diaphragm, in front of the opening to the cervix. If you put your concentration here, you can close this gate by contracting the urogenital diaphragm. If you have difficulty locating the second gate, here is how to find it. When you urinate, try to stop the flow of urine by squeezing deep inside your penis or vagina. The place you have to squeeze to stop the flow is the location of the second gate.

  1. Lightly contract the gate at the tip of the penis, or the lips of the vagina.
  2. Contract the gate at the base of the penis, or inside the vagina.
  3. Simultaneously, gently pull in on the muscles surrounding your eyes, as if you were trying to draw your eyes back into your eye sockets.
  4. Do this three to nine times.

  5. First Circulation

Sitting near the edge of a seat, the man puts his awareness on his testicles; the woman puts her awareness on her ovaries. Taking a deep but gentle breath, the man uses his mind and slight muscular contraction to lift up the testicles. The woman slightly contracts the lips of the vagina while mentally pulling the ovaries' energy down to the perineum. While the sexual energy begins to increase, it is slowly led, by your mind, up to the coccyx (tailbone) and step by step up to the sacrum, soine, neck, and into the head. This procedure is done nine times, filling the brain with sexual energy. Men then spiral this energy nine times clockwise, then nine times counter-clockwise in the head. Women spiral this energy in a reverse pattern, nine times counter-clockwise and then nine times clockwise.

The circulation of the energy is started by closing the circuit. Lift the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth just behind your front teeth. You should roll your tongue, so that the bottom of the tongue touches the top of the palate. Mentally guide the energy down through your tongue and continue down the front of your body and store it (leave it) in the Lower Cauldron behind the navel, Constant circulation of the light begins to crystallize the pearl, a Work that can take from a few months to a few years.

    Second Circulation

This circulation can only be accomplished by starting in a state of sexual arousal. You should be close to orgasm. Begin by inhaling a short sip of air, then push the tongue up to the roof of the mouth and clench the teeth. Pull the chin inward toward the back of the neck, contract the muscles in the eyes and look upward toward the crown. Tighten your anus and buttocks and pull up the genitals. This activates the sacral pump, which sends sexual energy up the spine. Clench the fists, arms and legs while keeping your shoulders and chest relaxed. Sexual energy is then drawn up the spine and into the head. It is spiraled there in the same manner as the First Circulation. Then raise the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth and draw the sexual energy down to the Lower Cauldron behind the navel and store it there. Do not do this exercise just before sleep, as it will keep you awake.

If you feel yourself getting too aroused during the exercise, stop and do some rapid abdominal breathing and look up and to the left with your eyes. If you have an orgasm before this exercise is complete, stop and try again another time.

    Third Circulation

Men lose sexual energy easily, especially through ejaculation, while women do not; they lose it mainly through bleeding during menstruation. For this reason, men must pay special attention to conserving their sexual energy. While men practice to limit and eventually stop their ejaculation, women must "cut off the Dragon," by stopping their menstrual flow by an effort of will. Women who have already entered menopause must start up the flow again by an effort of will, then cut it off.

Since women always have plenty of sexual energy, while that of men declines constantly, it is a common practice among male practitioners to absorb extra sexual energy from female partners. The man strengthens his energy by taking the energy of the woman from her breasts and the saliva under her tongue. The most powerful essences are liberated during orgasm, when the exchange of energy produces good health and longevity.

This technique is employed when the sexual energy is to be sublimated. First, the man and woman engage in foreplay to attain arousal of the sexual energy. Then they each circulate the energy up the spine to the head and down into the mouth, increasing the amount of saliva by rotating the tongue in the mouth first one way then the other. The man now swallows the woman's saliva, drawing the energy therein down into the Lower Cauldron, while pressing a spot on the woman's right breast about an inch above the nipple. This releases extra sexual energy that women store in their breasts. The man then visualizes energy in the Lower Cauldron, with red and white colors mixing together and then separating into a sun and a moon. In between mediations, the couple should continue to engage in sexual foreplay.

When erection occurs, the man grips the root of his penis with two fingers to prevent the loss of seed and exhales deeply through his mouth while grinding his teeth. This will cause the sexual energy to sublimate. It will move around in the abdomen, and the man activates the perineum pump to send the energy up the spine to the brain. Here, the sun and moon again unite. Bring the energy down into the mouth and create extra saliva by rotating the tongue. Swallow the saliva, and melt the breath to circulate the energy throughout the body to bring rejuvenation.

    Fourth Circulation

    Fifth Circulation

Melting the breath helps to cure illness and acquire supernatural abilities and immortality. Still the mind and emotions, then inhale and hold the breath while you circulate the energy. Collect the energy in your saliva and swallow it. Allow the energy to flow throughout the body while holding the breath. The best indication of the effectiveness of the practice is perspiration. Because of its strong effect, it should only be practiced every five to ten days.

When the inner breath can be held for 120 heartbeats, it can be used to cure illness. To accomplish this, the breath is directed to and collected at the point of illness, then exhaled. This is repeated twenty to fifty times, until perspiration appears at the affected area.

By daily practice, the Adept will manage to control the inner breath for ever longer periods, until it can be done for 1000 heartbeats. Breath and saliva are the best nourishment for those who strive for immortality.
