Harry Potter and the goblet of fire – latest news
What the movie will not show
Producer David Heyman spoke to Sci Fi Wire about what not
to expect from the fourth movie:
“Anything not related to Harry and his journey is less
relevant. That does not mean that there will not be
minimum details, they exist inevitably, but there are some
things that are showed in the book with details that we
cannot afford to waste time on, just by its nature.” For
example, the movie will not show the parallel story of
Winky and Dobby, as well as Hermione’s struggle for the
freedom of house-elves. “That is something about Hermione”
David Heyman says, “That does not mean that she is not
important, Hermione is of vital importance to the story,
but you have to make some choices… A chunk of information…
We placed it in some other character, and that does not
affect the whole plot. The main story works perfectly
without the elves story, and we spoke to JK Rowling and
she accepts that fact.”
The new sets
Sci Fi Wire went into the set, including the hugely
spacious tent of the Weasleys in the Quidditch World Cup.
The new film sets include the huge tent, an enormous
cemetery (where the movie climax takes place), a trophy
room full with silver trophies of various sizes, the
balcony of the Ministry in the World Cup and the courtroom
that raises several aspects of the main story. The
producers also built an enormous pool covered in blue
screens where Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and other
actors will perform the underwater scenes, which will be
then enhanced in post production by CGI. There is also a
gigantic arena built outside where Harry and the other
competitors will fight the dragons for one of their tasks
in the Triwizard Tournament.
Hogwarts’ main hall was transformed in the Yule Ball room.
Every surface is silvery, with big chunks of ice coming
from the ceiling, and there is a gigantic Christmas tree
on the centre of the room. Heyman also revealed that the
ball sequence will have the Weird Sisters, a band that
includes vocalist Jarvis Cocker and other members of
Radiohead and Pulp, which will give the movie a more
up-to-date atmosphere.
“It’s well interesting” Heyman says. “It’s good. That is
really a turnaround in this entire “Harry thing”; I think
people will like to see this world grow. I think the tasks
are great and the children (Daniel, Emma and Rupert) are
better actors now. You can see some things in this movie,
acting wise, that you could not see in the first, and that
you noticed growing in the second and third.”
Another curiosity: There had been rumours about Neville
going to substitute Dobby in helping Harry on his second
task. These rumours have now been enforced by Heyman’s
comment above, where he says that a chunk of information
was placed in another character.
On March 20th 2005, it has been announced by the producers
that the main scenes with the main characters were
finished filming, and that they were now concentrating on
the minor importance scenes, going then to post
production. Since there are already three or more trailers
and teasers, it is supposed that the movie is actually
already in post production, very close to its end.
Nevertheless, the movie will go to cinemas in the UK and
elsewhere on November 18th.

Review: Barry Trotter and the Shameless Parody By
Franki (aka missfranki2every1)
This book tells the
story of Barry Trotter, the most famous wizard of
Hogswash, the most famous school in the wizarding world.
So important to the school, Barry, has been awarded a
life-long scholarship, and therefore has permission to
stay on as long as he wishes! So at 22, he hangs around
the grounds of the school, doing as he wishes, and living
off the hype of his groupies. When the studio giant,
Wagner Bros wants to make the film off him, Trotter sets
of on a quest to stop them. This book hasn't got a great
storyline, but its wit makes it great! The book obviously
wanting to poke fun at the Harry Potter craze, lives up to
its expectations. Changing all our beloved characters into
paranoid and shameless people. This books starts of very
funny, but gets tiresome and boring very soon! All in all,
no book could beat the original JK Rowling books! They're
great, and being a dedicated Harry potter fan, I found the
Trotter Series trying to out smart Rowling's humour
slightly too much. This is a funny read though, and I
would defiantly recommend it! |
