SECTION  2 - VIRUS REMOVAL TOOLS

On this CD go to the folder called “VIRUS REMOVAL TOOLS.” Here you will find the files to remove certain viruses. To run these tools, just double click on the file name on this CD. This folder contains the following removal tools.

  • FixBlast.exe – removes the W32.Blaster.Worm

  • FixGibe.exe – removes the W32.Gibe@mm & all variants of this Virus

  • FixGoner – removes the W32.Goner@mm & all variants

  • Fixkakb.exe – removes the Kak.Worm.B

  • FixWelch.exe – removes the W32.Welchia.Worm & all variants of this Virus

  • FixWinsh.exe – removes the Backdoor.Winshell.50 & all variants of this Virus

  • FxDumaru.exe – removes the W32.Dumaru.AD@mm & all variants of this Virus

  • FxGaobot.exe – removes the W32.HLLW.Gaobot & all variants of this Virus

  • FxMimail.exe – removes the W32.Mimail@mm & all variants of this Virus

  • FxMyDoom.exe – removes the W32.Mydoom@mm  & all variants of this Virus

  • FxNetsky.exe – removes the W32.Netsky@mm & all variants of this Virus


BLASTER WORM (aka: W32.Blaster, MSBlast)

Win XP protection from Blaster Worm &  How to Tell I the Worm Is Affecting Your Computer

Computers that have been infected may not notice the presence of the worm at all, while others who are not infected may experience problems because the worm is attempting to attack their computer. Typical symptoms may include Windows systems rebooting every few minutes without user input, or systems becoming unresponsive. Shutdown error. If your computer is infected, you may see this error message in the picture to the right.

 

Follow These Steps to Remove Blaster Worm

STEP 1 -  Enable a firewall. (Click on pictures for close-up)
  1. In Control Panel, double-click Networking and Internet Connections(1), and then click Network Connections(2).

  1. Right-click the Local Area Connection under "LAN or High Speed Internet", and then click Properties.(3)

  1. On the Advanced tab(4), click the box to select the option to Protect my computer or network.

 

 
 

STEP 2 -  Update Windows.

  1. Go in the main start menu as shown below.  Select it and Internet Explorer will run and connect to the Microsoft  website. 

  1. Next, select "Scan for Updates".  You will then be able to select what updates to install.  Be sure to install all Critical Updates().  In addition, you should install the items listed in the Windows XP() area.  There are many networking and networking application related updates here.

   
STEP 3 -  Turning OFF your "System Restore" instructions on page 1
STEP 4 -  Run antivirus software.
STEP 5 -  Remove the worm
