This place was sweet.
She was getting a well-deserved rest. Finally. And the tiny white bikini with the gauzy white sarong around
her waist wasn't hurting either. She had herself a fruity drink and was walking through a misty cloud just
now. Yeah, none of it was real, but it felt real. It felt nice. It felt just like heaven ought to be.
"Hello there."
She turned. There was a very young guy standing there who had black hair and big blue eyes. He sort of
reminded her of Doyle a bit.... but not. He was dressed VERY nice. Silk shirt, expensive-looking slacks. In
black though. He was a sharp contrast to everything around them. His black hair was perfectly gelled and
spiked in a way that would have made Angel's mouth water. He looked very well-groomed all over, and she
could smell a slightly spicy scent coming off of him. It didn't overwhelm her, but every so often she noticed it
was there.
"Hi."
"Just get here?" He asked, smiling wickedly.
"I think you know that I did."
He chuckled. It was a very nice laugh. Though he looked little more than eighteen, Cordelia set her drink on
a nearby table and moved closer to him. This was what she had been missing. Very rarely did she get to
stand close to anyone... not since...
"Regulus, what are you doing?"
Cordelia spun around to see who the voice had come from. Older guy. Had to be related to the one she
was talking to. He looked like an older version with longer hair. Not as well-groomed. There was dark
stubble on his face, but it made him handsome in this Clooney way. He was also draped in black. Robes, it
looked like, but there was a dark blue shirt under the black that was making his eyes almost glow.
Behind him stood a couple. Their arms were around each other. A guy with black hair and glasses and a
woman with an absolute mane of red hair and huge green eyes. They were smiling at her. The woman was
wearing a green sundress that complimented her skin, hair, and eyes perfectly. Her companion was
wearing ratty jeans and a white t shirt.
"Hello, Sirius." Regulus said cheerily from behind her. "I was just talking to the new girl."
"Leave Cordelia alone, little brother. Cedric is looking for you."
Regulus was smirking and holding his hands up in surrender as he walked past Cordelia.
He looked at her. "He likes to be scratched behind his ears and have his belly rubbed."
Sirius slapped Regulus up the side of his head.
"Watch the hair!"
The redheaded woman giggled while she rolled her eyes.
"Lily." Regulus said, taking her hand and kissing the knuckles.
The man next to her yanked her arm away, effectively pulling her hand out of Regulus's grasp.
Regulus nodded at him. "James."
Then he was gone. He walked into some mist and disappeared. Cordelia was suddenly nervous. She
looked up and noticed this Sirius guy was looking all nerves too.
"Well..." James said. "I'm James, and this is my wife Lily. We just wanted to meet you. We'll talk later. We'll
just leave Padfoot to show you around. He's waited long enough, I think."
"Show me around? Waited long enough?"
"You're on vacation." Lily said. "Before you go back to work."
"Work?"
Lily smiled sadly. "You didn't think the Powers would let you off that easy, did you?"
"Easy?" Cordelia snapped. "They only took my whole friggin' life... my whole friggin' WORLD from me!"
"Hey." Sirius said in a calm manner as he moved to her.
The second he touched her bare arms, Cordelia gasped. There was such comfort radiating from his touch,
but the vision going with it hit her full-force. Not in pain like way before, it was just so overwhelming that her
legs failed.
James was staring in surprise. "We'll just leave you two to talk it out. Come on, Lily."
The two turned and were gone very quickly. Almost as if they knew that they were beginning to intrude on
something that would be private and did not want to.
So they had gone, leaving Cordelia with the man who had just gotten more gorgeous in her eyes.... but
there was a funny thing. She'd just seen more in a matter of seconds than she ever had with any of her
other visions. He'd fallen through some veil of death... and this was a sort of limbo for him. He wasn't really
dead. She could see it... had seen it. He was going to be pulled out by a man that betrayed him.
And she was coming back with him.
They were going to get married. And she was going to have children, his children... but the one she would
love the most for a long while was the only child of the redheaded woman and raven-haired man she had
just met. Sirius's godson.
"Harry." Cordelia whispered.
Sirius looked down. "I didn't want you to find out this way. I wanted to tell you. When I was told... I didn't
handle it well. I mean, I did want to be back with Harry and Remus again, but I didn't like the idea that fate
was messing with me a little, and the choice might not wholly be mine. That I was going to 'die' no matter
what. You'll like Remus though. He'll remind you of your Wesley."
"I...."
"It's a very lot. I know."
All this knowledge. All this past. It was still being sorted in her head. Cordelia could hardly comprehend that
she had had to die to find her actual soul mate. She hadn't even really believed in such things. She had
thought up until the moment Sirius had touched her arms that Angel had been her soul mate. It was a bit
saddening to realize that while Angel had been her deepest love thus far, he had not been her soul.
The man before her was. The man before her needed her in a way she had never been needed by anyone.
Cordelia straightened her spine. So this was her destiny. She'd accepted everything else that had come
her way in the last few years, why not this as well? It's not like she was getting the raw end of the deal. This
guy who was apparently hers body, mind, and soul was sort of sexy.
"Do you think Harry will like me?"
Sirius grinned. "I think Harry's going to love you."
"Do you?"
"I just said so."
"No.... do YOU love me?"
He raised an eyebrow at her.
"I think you know what all I saw there, buddy. And maybe it's too soon, but I'd like to know-"
He grabbed the sides of her face and kissed her. It was a melty sort of kiss that weakened her knees and
curled her toes and made the butterflies in her belly spontaneously combust as they flew into dizzy circles
and turned to ash.
When Sirius pulled back from her, Cordelia was swaying slightly with her lips parted and eyes closed.
"Wow." She whispered.
He grinned mischievously and pulled her back for another kiss. This time she plastered herself to him and
wrapped one arm tightly about his neck while the other one had a hand that was unclasping his robes and
unbuttoning his shirt. Her hand rubbed over his collar bone and down over the sparse hair on his chest until
the nails grazed his pectoral muscle. Sirius pulled back with a hiss. Her eyes glowed like molten steel.
Cordelia had never felt THIS instant of an attraction to someone. Ever. She had to wonder how it would
have played out if her vision had not showed her what was in store for the two of them. She liked to think
she would have been attracted to him anyhow.
"Should... should we go somewhere else to talk a bit more?" He asked a bit nervously.
Cordelia hooked an arm through his, feeling more comfortable with him every second she was in his
presence. She knew. She had seen. He had never really settled down in his last life because he was
always subconsciously looking for her. She had never held onto anyone, not even Angel, because she had
been looking for Sirius. She just had not known it. If she had truly been meant for Angel, she would have
held on like crazy to that life, but she knew things had just gone beyond what was acceptable there. There
was no going back in that life. She'd been given a last good-bye, one last fight at Angel's side. Then she's
kissed him goodnight and left without really saying good-bye. Cordelia hated that word. It was so final. But
she'd had her last hurrah. She'd made herself right with everyone she had loved there... to come here and
be in love.
God, was Sirius her reward?
It was so cosmically weird.
Her life was about to begin again.
One where she still got visions and still fought evil... but she was someone's mother... someone's partner...
and friend to many. Sirius had so many people that cared about him that would adore her because he did.
That was a wonderful thing to have knowledge of. Had she stayed in Sunnydale none of this would be at all
possible. The spoiled rich Cordelia of those Queen C days had not been ready to do this work.
But by God, THIS Cordelia Chase was finally ready to be that. Despite everything, she was still the queen
though. She also knew a great lot about facing the big bad.
And she knew some evil wizard minions and one particular snake-faced ugly who was not to be named that
were gonna rue the damn day they'd even decided to mess with her intended soul mate and the boy to
whom he was godfather. Yes, when she and Sirius came back into the world of the living, there were gonna
be some VERY sorry folks.
Because she was still the nastiest girl to ever walk the halls of Sunnydale High.
