Spells and Enchantments Lesson 6
The following spells are again used in smaller battles, or in a duel with a friend, but these are such fun to do! However, the following do not have easy-to-memorize counter curses, and only the strongest witches and wizards can take these away (except perhaps waddiwasi), so if you wish to send someone to the hospital wing practicing, I warned you!
Our first spell is "tarantallegra", the ever-famous "dancing spell". This spell makes your opponent dance his or her heart out for 3 hours! "Tarantallegra" is pronounced "ta-rant-all-gra". It's great fun to watch, but remember: they can still hold their wand and shoot something back at you! I remember a funny story about this.... when I was a young witch myself (well, I'm not old, but I'm not in my prime anymore!) I was dueling with my best friend. I sent her into a dancing fit! I pointed my wand at her feet and she started break dancing! She almost lost her wand! While I was about to walk away, she did it to me, and I was gettin' down, square-dancing and doing a disco move! I didn't realize that it controlled your hands too, and you have to be strong to keep from doing the Egyptian! Well, she thought it'd be funny if, while I was doing the swimmer, she'd leg-lock me. I fell to the ground in pain, because leg-locker was fighting dance, and my arms and head kept be-bopping away! It took 5 hours to safely rid me of both spells, and I didn't talk to my friend for awhile, until she finally let me get her back. That day was so funny! What I did is, I... wait, a minute, back to your studies!!!
Our next spell is "locomoto mortis", or the leg-locker curse. This binds the legs of your opponent for 5 hours, with an invisible rope, that is almost impossible to break. The pronunciation of this is very easy, "lo-co-mo-to mor-tEs".
Another fun spell to use is "impedimenta", which stops an enemy in his or her tracks. This is a neat way to get out of a fight at a Muggle school, too. If only those silly Muggles would adopt the ability, and be less ignorant of the existence of magic, then we could help them out! Of course, things could go much worse if everyone WAS a wizard or witch... anyways. To pronounce this spell, you mutter "N-ped-E-men-ta" while pointing your wand at the person you want to stop.
Our last one is "waddiwasi", the spell that sends gum up your opponent's nose. This one is great fun, as your opponent can only take it out by picking it out of their nose, or saying the "counter curse", which is difficult for many young witches and wizards to do. To pronounce this spell, you say "wad-de-wa-sE".
Spells and Enchantments - Assignment 6:
1) (spell here) makes you (action here) your heart out for 3 hours! (Fill in the blanks)
2) Let's see if you were paying attention. Name four dance moves.
3) What two spells do I have evidence of don't work right together?
4) Locomoto Mortis is the leg-locker curse. What binds your legs in that curse? (Hint: It's invisible!)
5) Based on my statement while explaining impedimenta, do you think it's possible for Muggles to "adopt" our ability? Why or why not?
6) Do you think that things would go "much worse" if EVERYONE was a witch or wizard? Why or why not?
7) What is one way a person can get the gum out of their nose?
8) Which vowel do you accentuate when you pronounce waddiwasi?
9) Again, which of these have you practiced? Which is your favorite?
Again, please make sure that you send the assignment to me, Professor Hedwig, by clicking the Blue House Elf below, and not to the main list.
