Spells and Enchantments Lesson 5
DISARMING CHARM - The Disarming Charm, also known as Expelliarmus, is mostly used in Wizarding Duels. The Disarming Charm causes your opponent's weapon (usually a wand) to fly out of their hand. If the exact nature of the weapon is unknown or uncertain, the Disarming Charm can have unexpected results. During the International Wizarding Duel Championship of 1749, Sammy the Stupid tried to disarm his opponent before the Duel even began. His opponent was preparing for the Duel on the other side of the field when all of a sudden his wand exploded! Fortunately, not many of these incidents have happened, as most witches and wizards know that one can only duel with a wand. If several people cast the Disarming Charm simultaneously, the target may be rendered unconscious. In order to cast the Disarming Charm, you must point your wand at your opponent and say, "Expelliarmus."
LEVITATION CHARM - The Levitation Charm, also known as Wingardium Leviosa, causes an object to levitate. The longer you hold your wand in position, the longer your object will levitate. In order to cast Wingardium Leviosa properly, you must point your wand at the object you would like to levitate, swish and flick your wand, and say, "Wingardium Leviosa." Make sure that you pronounce the incantation correctly. Now hold your wand in position to control the object in midair. Once you put your wand down, the object will come down with it.
LUMOS- Lumos causes a small beam of light to shine from the end of the caster's wand. It is one of the most frequently used spells in the whole Wizarding world. It is quite simple, too. All you have to do is mutter "Lumos" and your wand should light up immediately. You don't even have to have physical contact with your wand to cast this spell. You could be feet away from your wand and the spell would still work. Lumos was discovered by Mi Cha in the early 1100s. The Lumos spell can be reversed with the Nox spell. Nox vanquishes the light coming from your wand created by the Lumos spell.
REPAIRING CHARM -The Repairing Charm, also known as Reparo, undoes damage to an object. This charm can be used to repair windows, chairs, doors, tables, books, pots, etc. It can be used on just about everything. Reparo comes in handy at all times! The inventor of the Repairing Charm was Waldo the Worrier. Waldo the Worrier invented the Repairing Charm in the early 1300s. Facts about this invention of Waldo's are unclear. In order to cast the Repairing Charm, you must point your wand at the object you would like to repair and say, "Reparo!"
