Celeste Maura
Celeste Maura

Celeste Jacqueline LeFleur was born on the 26th of September in the year of our lord 1743, in the city of New Orleans located in the French colony of Louisiana. Growing up Celeste lived a life of luxery. Her parents were wealthy aristocrats who owned a lucrative trading company in the city. She spent her time learning to read, write, sing and play the piano from private teachers her parents hired.

When Celeste was 19, French King Louis XV gave the Louisiana colony to his his cousin, King Charles III of Spain. King Charles III soon appointed a Spanish governor to Louisiana. This did not sit well with the French citizens, and led by the aristocrats the citizens drove the Spanish governor from the city in 1768. Seeking retribution Spain sent soldiers to New Orleans to restore the Spanish governor to power. It was during this time that Celeste's life changed forever. The Spanish soldiers acting on tips soon sought out those who had led the rebellion.

In late September a few days after her birthday, Celeste awoke in the middle of the night to find her family's mansion in flames. As she ran about the room and hallways she found escape impossible. Just as she had given up hope a figure emerged from the window and carried her to saftey. Upon reaching the saftey of the woods outside her home, Celeste turned to thank her rescuer when she saw the woman's eyes. They were scarlet red and glowed bright in the dark night. Celeste fell to the ground stunned, unable to move as the woman approached her. Her name was Ambrosia, a tall woman who appeared to be in her late 20's. She told Celeste that she had been watching her from the time she was young, and that it was time for Celeste to join her true family. Celeste sat mortified as she listened to Ambrosia tell her tale of her life and what she really was. Celeste couldn't fully comprehend what was being said, yet it seemed to make sense. How else could she explain Ambrosia's firey eyes, her great strenghts and ability to jump to the 2nd floor window.

Before Celeste could ask any questions Ambrosia in a flash had moved from standing 10 feet away to kneeling right next to her. Celeste struggled with all her might to force Ambrosia off her yet it was no use and she soon felt a stabbing pain in her neck. Instantly Celeste felt warm liquid gushing on her neck, her own blood. Battling the pain in her neck and her fear as blood quickly spilled from her neck Celeste tried to force Ambrosia off her but no matter how hard she tried she was unable. Quickly her strenght faded and her arms fell to her side, all she could feel was Ambrosia's strong arms upon her shoulders and her lips upon her gushing neck. Soon Celeste no longer felt anything at all, her eyes became heavy and all she could hear was the slow thumping of her heart as the life was drained for her body.

It was in this moment, when Celeste was on the verge of death that Ambrosia finally spoke again. She offered Celeste an alternative to death, imortality and a life full of pleasure. All Celeste had to do was accept Ambrosia's offer. As Celeste laid on the grass near death her mind feebly tried to process what was being said, but it was little use. Mustering up her primal will to live, Celeste mumbled one simple word "yes."

Celeste soon found her head being propped up and drops of something began dripping on her lips and into her mouth. "Drink" she heard a voice say somewhere, Celeste's head was spinning and the voice echoed throughout her mind. Celeste forced herself to swallow a few times. She suddenly felt her body convulse violently and her heart began to race. "It will be over soon" a voice echoed in Celeste's head as her whole body churned violently. Her heart was now beating violently, her whole chest jumped with each beat, then finally nothing, Celeste fell unconscious.

Slowly she began to stir once more, her arms and feet making slight motions. Yet her ears, her ears were incredibly atuned now. She heard far off voices from her home, the villagers were shouting orders to bring more water and men to put out the fire. She then opened her eyes and for the first time, saw all intricate details of the world around her. Celeste then looked about her body, a horrified look appeared on her face "I can't feel my heart!" she cried. Her eyes widen as Ambrosia simply laughed at her, and explained that her body had died, and she had returned, and no longer needed a heart beat to live. Long into the night Celeste sat and took in all that Ambrosia told her. Ambrosia was of the Maura clan and henceforth Celeste would be known as "Celeste Maura."

For many years Celeste remained with Ambrosia and the Maura clan, learning all she could about their world. Yet the time soon came when Celeste's curiousity for the world pulled her from her clan. As she left New Orleans to explore the world. She first made her way to the old world, in particular Frace. From there she traveled to many old countries before finally returning to New Orleans, Ambrosia and the rest of the Maura clan in the late 1930's. Since returning to New Orleans Celeste has done minimal traveling about the United States, yet no matter where she goes and what clans she meets, she always returns to the Mauras in due time.
