I grew up in Indiana and went to school at Purdue
University were I received a bachelor's degree in environmental design
and a master's in environmental analysis. Upon graduation I worked
for an architectural firm that specialized in the design of schools.
Fate and marriage took me to South Carolina and Hilton
Head Island. While raising a family, I became a part-time student
at the University of South Carolina and received a bachelor's degree in
early childhood education. Later, I took two years of training
with the Montessori Institute of America and received my 3-6
certification.
My own children attended the Sea Pines Montessori School
on Hilton Head Island. The school celebrated it's 40th anniversary
in 2004. Sea Pines Montessori has a student population of 250 in
nine separate classrooms. Each classroom has three teachers
consisting of a Directress, an assistant and an aide. The school
also has a library, with a terraced story room, and a gymnasium.
Sea Pines Montessori has on staff a music teacher, and art teacher, and
a librarian. I have been teaching at Sea Pines Montessori since 1997.
