Gandalf. Aragorn. Frodo. Sam. Boromir. Gimli. Legolas. Merry. Pippin. These nine were named the "Fellowship of the Ring" by Elrond, who brought them together and charged them with a dire task: to bring the One Ring of power into Mordor and destroy it. They represented all the Free Peoples of Middle-Earth, and all had different reasons for joining Frodo on his quest. Also, in each of them is an essence of human character, some quality that is in each of us as well.

MYSTERY AND MAGIC... Gandalf

Gandalf is Frodo's mentor, the person he looks to after Bilbo's departure to tell him what to do. He joins the fellowship to guide Frodo and to protect him from teh forces of evil which will try to stop his quest from succeeding.
