Eight senior Indian Police Service officers
of the West Bengal cadre (seven serving and one retired), namely, RK Mohanty,
ADG CID; S Chandra, ADG Prosecution; Manoj Malviya, DIG Darjeeling Range;
MK Singh, Director in the NCB; Veerendra, DIG BSF; B Singh, also on central
deputation; RP Singh, ADG Housing, and RC Sharma, who retired as DG IB,
were allotted a prime plot of land (at throwaway prices) by the Government
to set up a housing cooperative (Plot EE 85, Sector II, Salt Lake,
Kolkata).
If you want to visit any of these cops in
this building, (Konark Housing Society) you will not find them there.
Instead, you will be greeted by nurses and paramedics employed by a nearby
private hospital (Suraksha) for this building is in reality a residential
mess for them (rented out by the cops in question). The name plates,
however, display the names of these cops!
Leaves you speechless, or is it just another
one of those things?
