Paul Skynard

Paul Skynard started his training as a Mentat Assassin when he was four years old. He excelled in the study of ambiguous stimuli and the mathematical analysis of combat strategy. When he was seventeen he survived his temple trials and proceeded to work for a Vindicare mercenary group in the borderline territories of Ayenee. By the age of nineteen he had ascended the promoting ladder and was elected the head coordinator of assassination operations. During the following year he designed and personally executed assassination attempts within several different realms.

However his steadily growing reputation as a cunning, vicious Mentat warrior was cut short when a routine operation was sabotaged by his target -- Colin Brendan McCloud. For Paul, it was the ultimate prey. For Colin, a man who was rumored to kill with a single brush of his hand, Paul was his most desired trophy. In a single night, a four month operation was grounded and disassembled by the man with the lethal touch. Seven Vindicare Assassins died during the night fire. Paul's body was never found.

Four months later Paul resurfaced under the alias "Case." To the dealers he worked for he was known simply as "Cash." His memory of previous life experiences had been extinguished, but his reflexes, instinct, and attitude remained. The cool mannered Vindicare Assassin within him had disappeared, and was replaced with the augmented cruelty saught after by Mentat Masters. For the next ten years Cash exploited the Assassination industry. He murdered his competition, he stripped millionaires of fancy lifestyles, he owned half of the black market firearm industry, and he made an enterprise out of gunning down anybody who stood in his way. He was the ultimate street samurai, with an aim that never missed its mark.

However his creator, Colin, was not as accurate. After rousing the attention of a band of powerful mages, Colin hired Cash for one last job -- the slaying of a child wizard. Cash did the job well, and the tiny girl was eliminated. However the child's powerful friends retaliated, and rather than suffer the consequences, Colin transferred the Mages' attacks to Cash. The Mentat Assassin's death was quick and painless, yet the damages were irreperable. For once in eternity, Colin was unable to repair the dead body of his greatest creation. He stripped Cash of all his augmentations, and rose him as a simple man once again with all of his memories.

Paul disappeared into the surge of gunshot gurus and drug spinners to deal with his past. Without the memories of his childhood or his training he turned his confusion into anger. Even though he does not understand how he learned his Mentat abilities, he's still just as deadly. When he's not killing, he's dealing with his own demons by strengthening his formidable abilities as a Mentat Assassin.

INVISIBILITY
Innate Ability
- By augmenting his movements and articulating his locomotive reflexes in such a manner he can fool the mind of any observer into believing he is non-existant. This is not a magical ability, and therefore cannot be solved with any dispelling hallucinations or projections. Once Paul strikes, or is forced to move naturally, he reappears -

VOICE CONTROL
Innate Ability
- Mentats have the ability to make any suggestion seem incredibly convincing by enunciation particular vowels and consonants in their speech. Powerful Mentats have been known to convince even the most clairvoyant to leap to their death. Paul is an incredibly powerful word warper. Unless his target doesn't understand basic, is completely deafened, or can decipher the coded highs and lows in Paul's speech, the target may agree with any made suggestion and follow it at his own will. -

RIGIDUS
Innate Ability
- Mentat Assassins must be endurant, strong, nimble, quick, and well experienced in the use of their own body. Paul studied the art of Rigidus, an ancient Mentat Ability that makes the body like steel for brief periods of time. This ability also affects his strength. For a short duration Paul can make his body incredibly rigid, which gives him the supernatural ability to resist deadly impacts, and also to lift, brace, or support incredible weights by locking key joints and excercising overdeveloped tendons. In essence, he is the perfect athlete.  -

MINUTAE DETECTUM
Innate Ability
- A Mentat's most formidable ability is his keen sense of ambiguous stimuli. Harmless changes in air pressure, temperature, shifting sound waves, static charges, and magnetic field changes can be detected, deciphered, and translated into instinctive reactions. The result is a reaction time that rivals that of first generation Vampires. In a sense, Mentat's can see things coming at them seconds before they ever make contact, making their initiative immeasurable. It has long been a valid belief that it's impossible to catch a Mentat off guard, nor is it very likely that a Mentat Assassin can be defeated in close range combat. -
