Leonie O’Moore is a freelance illustrator, designer and writer based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. She started self publishing comics in the mid 90's,and has been an active member of the small press comics scene ever since.

Originally from the Republic of Ireland, she moved to the UK in 1997 to attend University. She gained a BA in Art and Design from the University of Sunderland in 2000 and an MA in Illustration and Design in 2006. She became a freelance artist in 2003 and has since been published in a variety of books and magazines. Her work has been exhibited in the UK and the USA.

Leonie also co-founded the influential publishing company ‘There Goes Tokyo...' which was responsible for many events, exhibitions and comic books. Leonie still makes comics and is a regular reviewer and critic for Comics International magazine.

Her design and illustration work ranges from educational booklets for children through to corporate business identities. Her comics have received acclaim for their strong visual style and inventive narratives.

Leonie has also worked in pre-production for tv and animation.

Leonie teaches workshops in drawing and sequential narratives. Clients have included Gateshead Council, Sunderland Council, Tyne and Wear Museums and the National Glass Centre. She has also acted as a mentor for creative project management around the region.
