Stepchild Of Society

Written by me 1999

I was born on the right side of the tracks.

Watching the other side get whacked.

Mis-guided by knowledge I lacked.

Took a train to find out the facts.

Trying to do the right thing

Hanging round the wrong scene.

Popping drugs, Acting cool.

Looking forward

blind as a fool.

Walking the streets with no fear,

Anyone see? Or even care

I’m the stepchild of society.

Stricken by reality.

Imprisoned to my debt.

Finding no regret.

Living everyday

As a governmental slave.

Step-in through life

Destination unknown

A child of poverty

Society’s clone

You look down on me

Putrid and vial

A product of your greed

Society’s stepchild (whisper)

I’m a compulsive liar.

Who is filled with desire.

Walking a thin line

Living is my only crime.

Trying to end this fantasy

looking for diplomacy

although a little wild.

I’m still a lonely child

I’m a stepchild of society

searching for variety

feeling mighty ordain

I rip off my chain

condemned to my life

By the governmental strife

(repeat **)

Met a girl who bore my son

Wore my ring

And carried my gun

Children are killers

justice is blind

society’s reaction

is the largest crime.

Welcome to America

land of the free.

Governmental heartaches

and misery.

Were the step children of society

trying to avoid poverty

hoping for sobriety.
