I, like most people, discovered Orlando Bloom after seeing the first Lord of the Rings movie. Portraying a tall, blonde elf with terrific bow and arrow skills, it's no wonder Orli's become a huge star in such a short time. Since his role as Legolas Greenleaf, he has been quite busy making new movies.

Orlando Bloom decided he wanted to become an actor when he learned that Superman's Christopher
Reeve was an actor. He spent two years at the National Youth Theatre and graduated from
the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He appeared in plays such as "The Seagull", "Twelfth Night" and "Trojan Women".
Soon after graduating from Guildhall School, he was offered the role of Legolas Greenleaf although he had initially
auditioned for the role of Faramir. It is interesting to note that before playing Legolas, Orlando
nearly died when he fell out of a window, falling down three floors, and breaking his back. The doctors
told him that he may not be able to walk again, but after an operation and twelve days later, he walked
out of the hospital.
Ever since his breakthrough performance in the Lord of the Rings movies, he has been able to work with various
high profile directors, such as Ridley Scott, when he appeared in Black Hawk Down. One thing for sure is that
this actor is being kept busy these days. He has been working with actors including Johnny Depp and Heath Ledger. Soon he
will be working with Brad Pitt on the upcoming movie Troy.
