Alexei Yagudin is the Russian male figure skater that I've been a fan of since February '02, ever since he wowed me by his gold medal performances during the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm so glad that I was able to see him skate live on June 1, 2002 at a Champions On Ice show in Continental Airlines Arena.
This section will consist of Alexei's bio, titles and awards, and Alexei Yagudin related links.

Name: Alexei Konstantinovich Yagudin
Birthday: March 18, 1980
Birthplace: Leningrad, Russia
Height: 5'8"
Current Residence: Connecticut
Coach: Tatiana Tarasova
Alexei Yagudin is the only child of Zoya Yagudina. Born in Russia, Alexei's parents separated when he was only four years old.
His mother and grandmother took good care of him, however, living with other families in their apartment. When he was a young boy,
Alexei was a sickly child (he was born with a congenital hip condition) and it was suggested that he take up a sport to make him stronger. So Alexei took up figure skating.
Before Tatiana Tarasova, Alexei was coached by Alexei Mishin. In 1998, only 18 years old, Alexei made one of the biggest decisions of his life;
he moved to the United States to be coached by Tatiana. It is very obvious that this decision was the right one because under Tatiana's
coaching, his skills have improved and matured (especially on his specialty: his difficult and intricate footwork sequences). He has won 4 World Championship
titles and the coveted Olympic Gold Medal in Salt Lake City.
He is a marvel to watch on television, but is even better when you see him skate live. Like I said before, I had the opportunity to see him skate
in June '02 at a Champions On Ice show. He skated to his wonderful 'Winter' program and he just amazed everyone in the arena. Alexei Yagudin will definitely
be remembered in the history of figure skating. :-)
