OVERVIEW

After leaving St. Gregory's Grammar school and graduating at Stockport College, I have been involved in Civil and Structural Engineering in a variety of fields within the industry, Power Stations, Chemical, Petrochemical, Mining, etc. I have performed assignments ranging from design/detailing, Building, Architectural, Steel and Concrete to coordinating, supervising and providing design calculations (mostly RC) for three designers at Rand Mines to managing the Automation group for Hatch in South Africa.

Since 1988, I have been involved with CAD design and support, mostly for the Petro - Chemical industry using Autodesk, Intergraph and Bentley Systems. Over the last 20 years I have developed my skills at Fluor Daniel, Badgers, Raytheon, Foster Wheeler, Anglo American, ABB Lummus Global, Parsons and Hatch on major projects, all increasing in responsibility and in Scope. For the past 16 years I have specialized in Microstation, AutoCAD and PDS Frameworks, I established a set of drawing office CAD standards for the above mentioned companies and customized the GUI’s on each project using the latest software from Bentley and Autodesk.

I have trained people on 2D and 3D and then provided support and Supervision for the remainder of the projects. I completed courses on Piping Modeler whilst at Fluor in South Africa, Modeldraft, Frameworks Plus and Siteworks whilst at RE & C (Badgers) in Holland, I completed Designer and Basic Administration courses on SmartPlant 3D whilst at Hatch in Australia.

In the last 5 years I was employed by Parsons/Fluor Daniel (JV) as the Civil/Structural Discipline Application Specialist, Trainer and Senior Design Supervisor in Atyrau/Brentford on the Tengiz SGP Utilities Project and the AGIP Kashagan Project using PDS frameworks plus and Microstation v7. I was then reassigned to PFD in Atyrau Kazakhstan. I joined HATCH Australia as a general PDS Administrator specializing in Frameworks Plus and SmartPlant 3D. I was transferred to South Africa as the Hub practice Lead for Project Automation Technologies, (IT Manager-EPCM Design Systems Coordination). I was recently Freelance again working for CBI Lummus in Den Haag Holland, I am currently employed by WorleyParsons in Atyrau, Kazakhstan.

My career has been progressive in a supervisory and a managerial capacity, I have a BSc and I have just completed a BSc Hons in IT and Management, I am still studying for the professional certificate in Management both with the Open University, at Milton Keynes in the UK. I am a Chartered IT Professional and I am a Member of the British Computer Society and a Fellow of the Institution of Analysts and Programmers.
