manchester knitting circle is currently a small band of renegade knitters who have been inspired by the actions of other renegade knitters worldwide! (namely in glasgow thank you to the ladies of frock on). at the moment we are still not great at knitting but our hearts burn with the passion of the newlywed and our eyes shine with ideas. we would like to build an army of knitters, striking excitement into those who hear the approaching clicketyclack. we want to be able to knit charming seasonal knitwear for all our friends! we want to knit the backdrops of the most decadent cabaret in town! we want to knit out our wildest dreams! our first idea is to knit the manchester knitting circle patchwork quilt. this will consist of a load of squares of knit by all the people who would like to be a part of mkc, and as our first project will be used to sit on while we knit other things in the future. if you would like to knit a/some sqaures then i guess 20x20cm (this is about 40 stitches on 4mm needles with double knit wool) is a good size. we would like to have meetings where we eat cake and drink tea, inside in colder weather and in the public spaces of manchester in warmer weather. let's take knitting to the streets.
