Harry’s Future

It was the end of Harry Potter’s seventh year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Over the last few years, he had been made Captain of the Gryffindor House Quidditch team. He had won the Quidditch Cup and the House Cup. Now he was graduating.

Earlier that year, Harry had been approached by a Quidditch scout. He’d asked Harry if he wanted to be Seeker for the Chudley Cannons. Harry had said yes immediately.

Ron was going to be a chaser for the Wimbourne Wasps. But he was very jealous that Harry was going to play for the Cannons. That had been Ron’s favorite team for years.

Hermione was going to be a journalist for the Daily Prophet. Harry told her not to use a Quick Quotes Quill. She promised not to.

Graduation came, and the three friends went their separate ways with the promise to keep in touch. Harry already missed his best friends.

As promised, Ron and Hermione wrote him letters. He wrote back, so the three of them stayed close.

Ron and Harry often played against each other in Quidditch. After these matches, Ron and Harry would catch up. Hermione sometimes came to their matches, and than it was just like old times.

“Do ya know what I heard?” Ron said at one of these rare meetings.

            “What?” asked Harry.

“I heard that You-Know-Who is gaining strength again.”

“Oh, Harry!” Hermione said nervously. “Do you think he’s going to come after you again?”

“Yes. I think he’s going to try and kill me again.”

“We should tell Dumbledore,” Hermione said.

“Hermione’s right,” Ron said. Harry was shocked. Ron hardly ever agreed with Hermione.

“Alright. I’ll send Hedwig with a letter to him immediately.” Hedwig was his snowy owl.

Harry took out a piece of parchment and started hunting for a quill. When he finally found one, he scribbled this note:

            Dear Professor Dumbledore,

I have heard rumors that Voldemort is gaining strength again. Is this true? I am afraid that he will come and try to kill me. I really am afraid, as are Hermione and Ron. Please write back telling me what to do.

                                            Harry Potter

“Hedwig,” Harry said to his owl, “I need you to take this to Professor Dumbledore. Can you do that?”

As if responding to his question, Hedwig stuck her leg out so he could tie the letter to her leg.

After he had tied the letter to her leg, Hedwig took off.

A few days later, Hedwig returned. Professor Dumbledore had replied with this:

            Harry,

It is true. Voldemort is gaining strength. I too fear for you safety. I suppose we should use the Fidelius Charm. Please choose a Secret-Keeper soon. I will get a hold of you again.

                                    Albus Dumbledore

Harry quickly thought of who he should use as Secret-Keeper. He decided he’d use Hermione because she wouldn’t tell. But neither would Ron. But Ron was not as good at fighting the Imperius Curse.

“Hedwig, just one more trip,” Harry said as he wrote to tell Hermione what was happening. “Take this to Hermione. She’s doing a report, but you should be able to find her. Go quickly. It’s important.”

She flew off. Harry sat quietly wondering what was going to happen to his Quidditch career.

Hermione Apparated to Harry’s house on the day the Charm was going to be performed.

“Does Ron know about this, Harry?” Hermione asked.

            “Er….No,” Harry said guiltily.

            “Why won’t you tell him?”

“Well, he can’t fight off the Imperius Curse as well as you could if it was put on you.”

            “Oh.”

The charm was performed and Harry went to talk to Dumbledore.

“Am I still going to be able to play Quidditch?” Harry asked.

“I’m afraid not, Harry. Maybe, after the danger passes, you can play again. But until then, I will write a letter to the manager of the Chudley Cannons and tell him that he needs to find a new Seeker until you are available again,” Dumbledore said.

            “OK. Thank you.”

“You are very welcome. Hermione won’t let it slip as to where you are. Now, I suggest you find something to do.”

“I have a little practicing I need to do. My spells are getting rusty.”

After a quick farewell, Dumbledore Disapparated, leaving Harry alone.

Six months went by. Hermione constantly visited so he wouldn’t be too lonely. One visit, though, brought good news.

“Harry!” Hermione said in an excited voice. “Voldemort’s dead! He won’t be coming to try to kill you anymore! The ministry’s off finding the rest of the Death Eaters.”

“Does Dumbledore know?” Harry asked. After he said this, he knew he spoke too soon. At the window was an owl.

“It’s from Dumbledore,” Harry said as he read it. “He says the charm is going to be lifted. He sent a letter to the manager of the Cannons to tell him that I’m free to be Seeker again.”

A/N: This story obviously takes place after the seventh book. I refuse to let Harry die, but I wanted to make it so he had a challenge. That’s why I brought Voldemort into the story. To all Harry Potter fans, myself included, this is only my version of what will happen. Don’t take my word for this. This whole story can be proved wrong.
