Anyone interested in legends of strange creatures and witches and warlocks will find something to please them in the following pages.
A great debt is owed to the learned people before us who helped collect these tales and place them in some coherent order for future generations to enjoy. They are for the most part concerned only with legends of Wales, but many of you may find similarities to stories from other countries too.
All manners of magical and mystical creatures will appear in the following texts along with their Welsh and English names where necessary, and place names will be translated as near as possible from their original Welsh names.
You will find legends of the lakes, the caves, stories of Fairy gold and enchanted circles, marriages, baby snatching and even shapeshifters. Hopefully you will enjoy them simply as stories yet remembering their importance as part of a nation’s folklore.
