This is a list of books I can recommend; they are for friends to view and consider. This page is not to sell any merchandise or get kickbacks from retailers. You can find suggested readings in many places; one other site is Bob Brinker’s, which I list on the main page.

A FOOL AND HIS MONEY

John Rothchild

John Wiley & Son, Inc.

The book is ingenuous in the way it incorporates humor with great lessons.

A RANDOM WALK DOWN WALL STREET

Burton G. Malkiel

W. N. Norton & Company, Inc.

I also enjoyed this one very much, the author is a very respected authority in the world of financial education, and he also serves on the board of the Standard & Poor’s Index 500. He endeavors to make a mockery of those that claim to know the future in the movements of securities. There are numerous editions anyone of them can serve you.

BIG BRANDS BIG TROUBLE

Jack Trout

John Wiley & Son, Inc.

Good book when it comes to understanding the marketing choices companies make that break or make them.

THE EDUCATION OF A SPECULATOR

Victor Niederhoffer

John Wiley & Son, Inc.

This book is somewhat autobiographical; it also encompasses examples and stories of how this big leaguer made good and bad decisions. It is very instrumental in the sense that it carries you through the many aspects that drive strategic futures trading, especially how the non-financial experiences impact major financial trades. The book is a National Best Seller.

HOW MUTUAL FUNDS WORK

Second edition

NEW YORK INSTITUE OF FINANCE

Albert J. Fredman and Russ Wiles

Prentice Hall, Inc.

This is the first book I have read about mutual funds that is not geared towards  listing the latest to-buy list of mutual funds. This book is a first in its class. The book goes on to explain in detail the advantages and disadvantages of investing in them. It is a source unbiased teaching.

INSIDE INTEL

Andy Grove and Tim Jackson

Penguin Putnam Inc.

Every technology and non-technology investor needs to read this book. The book is the story of Intel Corp, the founders, the problems they encountered around the world, and how they managed to survive in the down periods. To read this book is to understand the making of a Gorilla company. Also a National Best Seller.

THE MILLIONAIRES CLUB

Carolyn M. Brown

John Wiley & Son, Inc.

This is the book I will credit with helping me organize  my first Investment Club. The book is very detailed and has a friendly format.

ONLY THE PARANOID SURVIVE

Andrew S. Grove

Currency and Doubleday of Random House, Inc

This book is about “STATEGIC INFLECTION POINTS” in the corporate technical landscape evolution. Andy tells the stories of recognizing, and embracing the changes that can be so big, so influential that they can practically make or break those that elect to not recognize them.

101 REASONS TO OWN THE WORLD’S GREATEST INVESTMENT

-BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY-

Robert P. Miles

John Wiley & Son, Inc.

This book written by a fellow investor, cuts through all the babble in most financial manuals. Anyone who can read this book and elect to invest any different must seek professional help. I was inspired to the point of fully adopting the philosophy and making then pillars of this investment club.

SOLD SHORT

Manuel P. Asensio

John Wiley & Son, Inc.

Did you ever think there was fishy business taking place on wall street? Just read Manuel’s book and you will have a new opinion on professional advise and the executives that run many of the companies selling pipe dreams to retail and institutional investors. This book opened my eyes by a factor of 10. I thank Asensio for being the courageous person he is in taking on illegitimate companies at work.

YOU HAVE MORE THAN YOU THINK

David and Tom Gardner

Simon & Schuster Inc.

This book was one of my first as well as a motivating one. "THE MOTLEY FOOL” are an authority in helping beginning and foolish  investror. The book is a must for a beginning investor.
