The Getaway
After the reactor has been destroyed, the team agrees to split up and meet at the Sector 8 train station. Although Barret told you to split up, follow him up the stairs and off the screen. When you get to the next screen, a flower girl stops Cloud to inquire about the explosion, and possibly sell him a flower. The conversation could have an effect on events later in the game, however it’s nothing significant, so don’t stress over what you do. After the conversation, follow the flower girl off the bottom off the screen.
There isn’t very much you can do here, except fight with some dogs, and talk to some citizens. Make sure you pick up the Potion as you head from the top to bottom of this screen. When you reach the streets, Cloud is ambushed by Shinra soldiers. You can choose to fight them, they aren’t particularly challenging, or you can retreat. No matter what you choose to do, Cloud is eventually surrounded by Shinra soldiers, however Cloud hops over the railing and onto a train coming through the tunnel below.
As it turns out, the train that Cloud hopped on was the same train that Barret and the rest of the team are on, however Barret is not particularly pleased by this dramatic entrance. After everyone else leave the car, follow them into the passenger car and talk to everyone. Jessie explains to Cloud the train system of Midgar, and how the team needs fake IDs to elude Shinra’s automated security checkpoints, which are used by Shinra to catch criminals on the trains. Everything goes well, and the train arrives at the Sector 7 station, and Barret tells you to head back to the hideout.
