Common Thyme, Mother of Thyme, and Garden Thyme.
Magickal Uses: The Greeks burned thyme in their temples to purify them as we do today to purify an area. Add it to the magickal-cleansing bath of springtime, along with marjoram, to remove all sorrows and ills of winter. It is worn or added to the ritual cup to aid in communicating with the deceased. (It also helps one see Otherworldly entities.) To ensure a restful night’s sleep free from nightmares, sleep with it beneath your pillow. When worn it will help psychic powers develop, and if worn be a woman in her hair, it will make her irresistible. Thyme will increase your ability to see the Sidhe - separate from humans and who have powers to move quickly through the air and Shape-Shift at will. The Sidhe are a huge part in the lives of the Celts. Druids considered this one of their sacred herbs, used to repel negativity and depression. Thyme was among the 3 or 4 herbs upon which Mary and the Christ bedded in Bethlehem of Judea, and so it has become an herb to be in the gardens of Holy places.
Thyme is burned in incense to purify an area. A place where wild thyme grows will be a particularly powerful energy center on earth. A magical cleansing bath can be produced by pouring a tea made with thyme and marjoram into the bathwater. A pillow stuffed with thyme cures nightmares. When attending a funeral, wear a sprig of thyme to repel the negativity of the mourners.

Magickal Uses: An ancient herb of purification in Hawaiian magick. Turmeric is mixed with salt water and then the mixture is sprinkled, usually with a ti leaf, to purify an area. In Biblical times, turmeric was often used to make perfume, a comment on its rather exotic fragrance.
Scatter on the floor to protect a magick circle, or mix with salt water and sprinkle to purify a larger area. Turmeric has been used from antiquity as a condiment, a dye, and medically as an aromatic stimulant.
Turmeric is listed in an Assyrian herbal dating from about 600 BC. In Malaysia, a paste of turmeric is spread on the mother's abdomen and on the umbilical cord after childbirth, not only to warn off evil spirits, but also for its medicinal value.
