All early Church Fathers believed in the Real Presence.

The Real Presence is the literal Body and Blood of Christ is present during the Eucharist.

Canon of the Bible

 

Old Testament:

Catholic OT based on Alexandrian Canon or Greek translation.

NT Written in Greek.

Rejecting the seven books follow the beliefs of the non-Christian Jews at Jamnia(100 AD) who persecuted Jesus Christ.

New Testament:

73 books approved by different Catholic authorities in 175, 185, 325, 382, 393, 397, and 405 AD.

Luther admits that without Catholic Church Christians would not know what books were inspired.

God honored Mary by choosing her above all creatures to give life to Jesus Christ.

Mortal Sin: Sin which brings death to the soul.

Venial Sin: Sin which only wounds and disfigures the soul.

  1. God is perfect holiness.
  2. We are called to the same holiness as God.
  3. Without perfect holiness, we cannot see God in heaven.

Purgatory comes from the verb "purge" meaning "to purify or cleanse."

-only for imperfect saints in the state of grace enter purgatory

-purgatory exists for purification and reparation

-purgatory is temporary…everyone in purgatory goes to heaven

The Bible teaches that an intermediate state of purification exists…we (Catholics) call it purgatory.

At the very least it proves that a third place can exist between heaven and hell.
