ASCII Art: Drawing Pictures with Text

This program converts any small standard image file (up to 128x128 pixels) into ASCII text. Text pictures, called ASCII art, were used before bitmap computer screens. There is a growing internet ASCII art community, which generates ASCII art by hand, or generates it using programs like this one.
