Lest We Forget 9/11
The terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York was the most deadly attack by foreign interests within the borders of the United States of America since the Revolutionary War. The images of this disaster are both sad and disturbing. The United States is now at war with terrorists around the world. As a nation, we must not forget the cowardly attack on innocent people that inspired President George W. Bush to initiate this war! This memorial is dedicated to those who died or were injured in the Twin Towers, the families that survived them, and the brave people who attempted to rescue them.

Since shortly after September 2001, the United States of America has been at war with international terrorists on several fronts - most recently in Iraq. A brief declared war degenerated into a Viet-Nam-style conflict between the U.S. (and their allies) and assorted terrorist insurgent groups. The U.S. led liberation forces are trying to re-build the infrastructure of Iraq and to leave that country with both a viable economy and a stable, democratic government for the first time in generations. But the flames of war are renewed daily by Iraq's own internal political and religious factions and by international terrorists whose interests are best served by an Iraq in turmoil and chaos.

As President Bush struggles to deal with international terrorism and conclude the conflict in Iraq with dignity and integrity, while at the same time dealing with significant social and economic issues on the home front, there is growing criticism within the U.S. of the very committment that propelled us into the conflict.

We need to look back to September 11, 2001, lest we forget the cowardly act that started it all... an unprovoked attack by fanatical forces from abroad that brought down the World Trade Center - a symbol of the U.S. economy - and destroyed the lives of thousands of innocent people. We must never forget the terrible loss of life, the sacrifices made by those who responded as rescuers to the Twin Towers, the sacrifices of those who de-railed part of the terrorist plans by crashing one of the hijacked airplanes before it could reach its intended target. We must never forget the aweful sights and sounds of that terrible day.

Lest we forget, we offer this memorial. We could not match the powerful testimony already provided by several existing sites, so we simply offer the following links. The images and sounds presented bring tears to the eyes and renewed resolve to the heart. We must NEVER FORGET!

While we're remembering those innocents who died in a cowardly "sucker punch" attack, let's also pause to remember and appreciate the beautiful country we enjoy and live in. It's worth fighting for... and we have a section supporting our military heroes who are doing just that - you'll find a link back at the Palace Gate. Right now, take a look at My Beautiful America, offered by special permission of the author. Be sure you have your sound turned on - this one has both great graphics and wonderful, moving audio. My wife and I have had the privilege of standing in many of the places pictured in this presentation. This is truly a magnificent nation. God has blessed us, and we should be grateful.
