1 Samuel 9:9 (Formerly in Israel, if a man went to inquire of God, he would say, "Come, let us go to the seer," because the prophet of today used to be called a seer.)

The Bible was written many many years ago. Before that time, prophets were known and recognized, and called "seers" by the people. But when the Bible had come out, "seers" were then titled as "prophets". Throughout time, society has come up with many phrases and titles. They came up with "sorcery", "magicians", "gypsies", and most recently, "psychics". If you believe in the Bible, you believe in the gift of the spirit is possible.
I do know the Bible says there will be no more prophets. Please know I am not claiming to be one. I am not a prophet. There are spirits and powers, not just of God, but of evil, as well. It is up to us to follow our hearts and choose the right way.
Romans 12: 5,6
" ...so in Christ, we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to His faith"
Please know that my faith is in God. My faith is in Jesus, that He died on the cross for us so that we shall have everlasting life. Because He did this, all my sins are forgiven. Without this belief, I will not be one with God when my time passes, or even now, with the Holy Spirit while I am here.
There are many more references in the Bible to messengers of God, but I chose just a few. Know that we all have work to be done for the Lord. We are His children, made in the image of Him, and He will do with us what we will. If these abilities/gifts were possible back then they are now. Here are a few listed below:

Numbers 11:29 But Moses replied, "Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD's people were prophets and that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!"

1 Samuel 10:5 "After that you will go to Gibeah of God, where there is a Philistine outpost. As you approach the town, you will meet a procession of prophets coming down from the high place with lyres, tambourines, flutes and harps being played before them, and they will be prophesying.

1 Samuel 28:15 Samuel said to Saul, "Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?" "I am in great distress," Saul said. "The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has turned away from me. He no longer answers me, either by prophets or by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what to do."

1 Kings 18:22 Then Elijah said to them, "I am the only one of the LORD's prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets.

1 Samuel 10:10 When they arrived at Gibeah, a procession of prophets met him; the Spirit of God came upon him in power, and he joined in their prophesying.

1 Samuel 19:20 so he sent men to capture him. But when they saw a group of prophets prophesying, with Samuel standing there as their leader, the Spirit of God came upon Saul's men and they also prophesied.

Please read these in Christ, as they were written In Christ.
