1987: Gail Lewis, who was Paul's boss when he was working as an airline steward, arrives in Ramsay Street.

Paul proposes to Gail to secure a lucrative business deal. After saying "yes", Gail later tells Paul she wants to call off the engagement, only to then decide she wants to go through with the wedding after all.

1988: Gail returns from a trip to the US and tells Paul she wants a divorce. But Paul's charms prove impossible to resist and, later that year, the pair renew their vows.

That same year, Gail is involved in an horrific car accident that claims the life of Daphne (Elaine Smith). Gail also discovers she may not be able to have children.

1989: After a course of IVF, Gail learns she's pregnant with triplets, but joy turns to grief when her father is killed in a car accident. After the funeral, Paul leaves his grieving wife at the wake to head to his office. Enraged, Gail packs her bags and heads to Tasmania to give birth.

2006: Gail returns to Ramsay Street.
