Johann Gutenberg

Johann Gutenberg was born near the end of the 1300s. Where and when the first printing attempts were made is unknown, but it is known that movable wooden types were made around 1438. In 1450 he entered a partnership with Johannes Faust, a wealthy goldsmith. Faust had the money to help Gutenberg set up a printing press. The first book to come off of this press was a Latin Bible. Gutenberg died Feb. 24, 1498. He was given the rank of noble by the Elector of Mainz the same year he died.
