Desiderius Erasmus



Desiderius Erasmus was born in Rotterdam, Holland on Oct. 27, 1466. He lost both his parents when he was 9. In 1492 he became a priest, though he never meant to be one.

Erasmus never started writing until he became a master of the Latin language. One of his most famous works is The Praise of the Folly in 1509. Erasmus died in Basel, Switzerland on July 12, 1536.
