- THIS TRUCK WAS KNOWN AS A FORD BB FLATBED TRUCK.
- THIS TRUCK WAS A LATE YEAR MODEL, BUILT IN NOVEMBER OF 1933.
- THE ENGINE HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH 1936 CAST IRON TRUCK HEADS, A DOUBLE-DECK, DUAL INTAKE MANIFOLD WITH A STROMBERG 48 TWO-BARREL CARBURETOR AND 1939 MERCURY DOMED PISTONS.
- THE BOX IS HAND BUILT, COPING A DESIGN FOUND IN A FORD ADVERTISEMENT OF THE TIME.
- IT HAS AN 8-DAY CLOCK MOUNTED ON THE DASH.
- IT HAS AN AFTER MARKET HEATER WITH FAN.
- I PURCHASED THE TRUCK IN 1988 FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER'S SON.
- IT HAD SPENT IT'S LIFE ON A TRUCK FARM.
- IT HAS AN AFTERMARKET 6-VOLT WIPER MOTOR.
- HORSEPOWER HAS BEEN INCREASED TO 95@3600 RPM.
FACTS:
- I contacted David R.Crippen, Curator of special Collections, Archives & Record Center at the Henry Ford Museum, to verify how many of these trucks were produced. Mr. Crippen informed me that 216 of the 131-inch-wheelbase and 805 of the 157-inch-wheelbase trucks were manufactured in 1933. If these numbers seem small, it is because 1933 was the year the depression really took its toll on auto and truck production in North America.
It was known as a Ford BB flatbed truck.

IN 1933, YOU COULD STILL HAVE YOUR CHOICE OF ENGINES. THE V-8 OR A 4-CYLINDER. THE 4-CYLINDER WAS DESIGNATED MODEL C AND THE V-8 MODEL 40
- IT WAS STILL FORD'S POLICY IN 1933 TO USE THE ENGINE NUMBERS FOR THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER. THE BB FOLLOWED THE EXISTING PATTERN CARRIED OVER FROM THE MODEL AA TRUCKS AND REGARDLESS OF ENGINE ALL 1933 TRUCKS STARTED WITH THE PREFIX OF BB . THE 18 IN THE PREFIX CONTINUED FROM 1932 AND STOOD FOR THE FIRST V8 . THE REST OF THE NUMBERS WERE THE SEQUENCE IN WHICH THE ENGINES WERE PRODUCED
