WELCOME TO MY ANCESTRY!!

Indeed we have come a LOOOOOOONG way Baby!!
I would like to extend my thanks to Cletus E. (Bud) Swanson of Minnesota for taking the time to compile all of this information for us all! I do not know you but I do appreciate this!!

It is my hope that through this website perhaps some of us who are here now may get to meet online or even in person someday soon! NOW on to the facts sir!!:

What I enter from here on is word for word from the geneology I was given from my Grandmother. Once again~ Thank you!!
**************************************************

It is now about 10 years since we compiled the *KVALE* family history. We have just completed some additional research and have traced the family back to 1609 in NORWAY on SJUR KVALE's side.

We have made contact with some of our relatives in WISCONSIN and it is largely through their help that we have been able to locate much of the information contained in the following pages. SJUR KVALE had 2 brothers that preceeded him to America and they both settled in southern WISCONSIN.

One of the brother's used the name *DAVIDSON* for his family 'over here' and the other shortened his to *DAVIS*. SJUR was the ONLY true KVALE although all of his brothers and sisters had been born and confirmed as *KVALE'S*. After that the parents moved to a different farm and they all then assumed the name *TORBLAO* SJUR however was married in STAVENGER and when he returned to live with his wife and family in a 2nd house on the KVAOLE (NOTE:~~Could be misspelling...I typed it as they did.~~"Janet") farm, thus he retained his name from Norway.

We have added extra pages for the people in WISCONSIN. It is somewhat more detailed than the direct lineage down to SJUR DAVIDSON KVALE, who is the focal point for us of his family. We had used CAPITAL letters for all those in direct line from MAGNE down to SJUR KVALE.

We do find that a number of relatives came to America and while we do not know where they may be, a little work could locate them, however that task lies in the future.

It seems that almost everyone was married and after the loss fo a spouse they soon remarried. Some of this may have been due to the economic situation of the times. When there were children it was deemed necessary to have 2 parents and in the case of a widow, a provider. There was from time to time a 'little hanky panky', but we realize that was 370 years ago and things like that "certainly would not happen today."

We have little other than statistical information about our ancestors. We assume that many of them were farmers, fishermen and there were some stonemasons in the group. Our grandfather "SJUR" was a stonemason and it is understood that he learned from his father etc.

We have enjoyed working with this additional information and hope that the next step will give us more on our Grandmother *Martha.* We also hope that it will keep alive an interest in the family history for the future generation.

Corrections, additions and suggestions will be appreciated.
