the song is nowhere near new

There is currently a song being played at the clubs in town, namely LaCage, that is a remix of a song from an awesome musical.  I have to break down and laugh every time it comes on because everyone just sits there like, what song is this?  They don't dance even though the Thunderpuss Remix of it is awesome and does not, in any way, jeopardize what the song originally sounded like.

What song am I talking about?  I'm talking about "Tonight" from the West Side Story.  I believe it is one of the best musical love songs ever.  Well, it follows "Music of the Night" from The Phantom of the Opera and "I've Grown Accustomed to her Face" from My Fair Lady.

My thought on why these people don't know the song actually goes back to my speech during Speech 101 class in college.  I gave a speech on how grades are basically handed out in our high schools just to get the students through instead of forcing them to learn the basics.  That speech actually touched on things that I had seen people do in college and wondered how they ever got admitted in the first place.  There are things that people don't know.  If you were to say to someone what happened from 1861 to 1865, how many people could seriously say the Civil War.  Ask a few people once what he Ides of March are and see if they know.  Ask someone what happened on November 22, 1963 and see if they know the answer.  I won't even list it here because you should know the answer to that question.

Okay, so maybe I shouldn't expect someone to know that a remix of "Tonight" from the West Side Story is currently being played.  I can accept that, but don't just sit there with a dumbfounded look on your face because you don't know what to do.  Dance idiot.  That is why you are on the dance floor.  If you aren't going to dance than get off.  NOW!

By the way, watch the West Side Story.  You will learn more about yourself than any self-discovery that you previously did.
