different states - different young girls

I do not want to say much on this matter.  I will say though that I thought it was just me who noticed that there were two little girls, one seven and the other fourteen who were abducted.  One is making much more media coverage than the other, including an hour long special last night on FOX news channel hosted by Geraldo Rivera.  The link below takes you to an article that was in The Boston Globe on June 19, 2002. 

Does anyone know why one is receiving more media coverage than the other?  If so, I would like to know.
