Held at the UW Below Alumni Center, Life Slices made use of a non-gallery, functional space to address unsuspecting
viewers. It consisted of two installations, one in the lobby, and one in
the neighboring board room. Plentiful windows in each space made the
artwork visible from both inside and out, so that passers-by along Lake Mendota
could see the work at all times.
The show ran for one month, long enough
for employees of the Alumni Association to grow accustomed to the figurative
pieces. Now essentially empty of art, the spaces and its occupants seem to
yearn for more artwork. If you are an artist interested in exhibiting
there, contact Lynn Endicott. |
