King George's
War
(1744-1748)
Hostilities cooled down until England and Spain had trouble, which led to the War of Jenkins's Ear, which merged with the war of Australian Succession. The American phase of the war, King George's War, didn't start until 1744 (Parkman 1). French soldiers made an unsuccessful attempt to siege Port Royal. A Massachusetts expedition under William Pepperell took Louisburg the following year (Parkman 1). It would be returned to the French in the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle. Hostile feelings would hold up even after the war was concluded (Parkman 1).
