Nick spiked the ball over to the other side of the net. Brian jumped to get it. He managed to hit it straight up into the air and then landed face first in the sand. AJ and Emily ran quickly to get it. Instead of hitting, they both dove for it, AJ landing on top of Emily. She laughed for a second before trying to move. He stopped her though, forcing her into the sand with his body weight.
"Get off me you dork" Emily muttered. AJ looked at her, not moving.
"We gotta tell them" He replied. Emily looked at him, very confused.
"Tell them what?" She asked.
"You told me a long time ago…That after that night we'd tell Nick all about us and we never did. I can't keep this from my brother any longer" He replied. Emily suddenly understood. In the diary, Tiffany had wrote about her nights with AJ. If Nick found out, it wouldn't matter who she was, he'd never talk to her again. Since AJ was getting up, the guys were walking over.
"Don't worry-I'll tell him soon" She replied. AJ got off her and stood up.
"BullShit" He replied. "We might as well tell him now"
Emily made a face as the guys got closer. She bit her lip, thinking frantically.
"I want to tell him myself...In private" She lied. AJ watched her for a second. He turned to the guys, giving them a big grin.
"MY SERVE" He yelled. Leighanne helped Emily up, keeping her eyes on her the rest of the day.
After a long day at the beach, Nick and Emily had gone back to his parents house where they were staying.
"Tiff...I'm going on the boat for a little while...See how the mast is holding up...Wanna come?" Nick asked. Emily sat in front of the Carter's big screen TV, flipping through the saved programs on their TIVO. (It's that recording thing...I have it...It's the shit).
"I'm just gonna fart around here I think" Emily replied. Nick shrugged and walked over to her, kissing her quickly.
"I'll see you in a few" He exclaimed.
"Yea" Emily replied. She was only about 10 minutes into the newest epidode of friends when the phone rang. She picked it up quick.
"Hello?" She asked.
"Hey Emily" The voice exclaimed.
"Hey...What's up? Who is this?" Emily asked. She paused a second. "What did you call me?"
"Emily...." The voice exclaimed. Emily tried to place who it was on the phone, but the line was stacticy.
"Who is this?" She asked. There was a beep, then the stactic went away.
"It's me honey" Her mom exclaimed. Emily was quiet.
"Lisen Mrs. Hass...I know I looked a lot like your daughter but I'm not her" Emily exclaimed.
"Kim told me everything...You don't have to lie" She replied. Emily stopped her friends episode she had been watching and looked around the house quickly, making sure no one was home.
"Can I call you later??" Emily asked.
"Honey, what are you doing?? Why did Nick call you Tiffany? Kim only said where I could reach you and said you'd explain everything else to me" She replied. Emily made a mental note to kill Kim later. She ran down the hall, checking rooms as she went. It seemed as if no one was home.
"Listen Mom...I can't talk now...How about I meet you tomorrow night at your cafe around 8" Emily replied.
"I'll be here" She replied. Emily hung up and walked back into the living room. Upstairs in Jane's room, Jane hung up the phone also, covering her mouth with her hand, trying to make sense of what she had just heard.
"If mom knew I was in here she'd kill me" Nick exclaimed, lying next to Emily in his boxes. He'd snuck in after his parents had gone to bed. Even though he was 21, Jane wanted no "lovin'" going on under her roof.
"Did the boat work OK?" She asked.
"Fine" Nick replied. He moved closer to her. "I love how you always smell like raspberries"
"OK" Emily replied laughing. "I use Raspberry body wash in the morning"
"No..That's not it...You always have this smell...It's so intoxicating" Nick replied. Emily laughed as he started to sniff her neck, tickling it with his nose.
"Stop it you dork" Emily laughed, pushing his head away. Nick smiled at her, then stood up.
"Come with me" He exclaimed.
"Where are we going?" Emily asked as he pulled her arm, trying to get her outta bed.
"To this place I've never shown anyone" Nick replied.
"Am I suppose to feel special?" Emily asked as they left her bedroom. Nick made a face as they walked downstairs.
Nick had his hands over her eyes, guiding her down a small hill, into a valley about 10 miles from the Carter's house.
"I found this about a year ago...I come here just to think...Its quiet and I don't have to worry about being noticed" Nick replied.
"What about the frogs? You mean they don't know who THE NICK CARTER is?" Emily joked. Nick smirked.
"I have the power to run you into trees....Dont mess with me" Nick joked back. Emily smirked, following his lead into the deepest part of the valley.
"OK" Nick replied.
"You have your hands over my eyes....I can't see" Emily replied with a grin. Nick dropped his hands from her face, revealing a moss covered valley, with a tiny stream running through it. She looked over at him.
"Speechless aren't you?" He asked. Emily bit her lip. It looked like a regular stream to her.
"Now Nick...Before I say this...Remember I love you" Emily exclaimed. Nick smiled. "It looks like a normal, everyday stream. The truth is...I was expecting this huge waterfall with rainbows and little munchkins singing to me"
"Munchkins?" He questioned with a grin. "You called this Normal....That's why its so beautiful. Everything in my life so dazzled up...But this is Normal,Plain...Something I don't get to see everyday. It's like all those models in hollywood that wear hundreds and hundreds of pounds of make-up. That's ugly. True beauty is what most people call normal"
"What have you done with my cocky, idiot boyfriend?" Emily asked. Nick made a face.
"Nothing" He replied. He wrapped his arms around her waist, moving her body down towards the hard ground. He kissed her, moving his tounge in and out of her mouth. When they finally broke away, he looked into her eyes, the moon makin his blue eyes shine. "I love you so much baby"
"Then show me" Emily replied, pulling him back for another kiss.
