“I think It’s really cool you took that job in New York” Melissa exclaimed. Josie glanced over at her friend. She had moved into Melissa’s apartment 2 weeks after the Grammy’s.

“Well, It’s all I could get” Josie replied. Melissa was referring to the job she took with Chanel NY. She did the modeling and anything else she could help out with.

“It’s better than I’ve got Josie, You should be thankful and stop complaining” Melissa snapped.

“I’m not complaining. I just wanted something better for me then this. When I’m 30 I won’t have the looks, I’ll be an unemployed model” Josie explained.

“Well, I’m an unemployed single mother and you don’t see me bitching. Eminem helped you out with letting you sing at the Grammy’s. You got offers, but because you’re a hardheaded bitch you turned them down. SO, I don’t want to hear to complaining to me, Especially when you screwed up with Nick.” Melissa grumbled.

“I haven’t even mentioned Nick” Josie commented.

“If you wouldn’t have gone with Eminem, Then you wouldn’t be here right now and in 2 weeks you’ll be in the big apple and you’ll be happy again Josie, Trust Me” Melissa explained.

“That’s great Josie, Now can you lift your arm up and pull your shirt down a bit?” Bob, The photographer questioned.

“Like this?” Josie asked, pulling her shirt lower.

“That’s beautiful” Bob replied. Josie hated New York already. She had only been there a month and everything was getting to her. There were too many people, too many yellow taxis and not enough room for it all. She woke up at 11 each morning did photo shoots til’ 2pm and then helped out at a school until 5. Her main goal in life since she was 5 was to be a teacher. It might have been because of her mom, who was also a teacher. Her mom had been the most beautiful woman in the world to her and she’d never worn make-up a day in her life. Josie sighed and finished up the photo shoot. She was walking out the door when a receptionist called for her.

“Ms Martin?” She asked.

“Yea, That’s me, Josie Martin, why?” Josie asked.

“A package came for you about 1, We’re suppose to hold it in an air conditioned room” She explained.

“Um, OK. Who brought it?” Josie asked as she followed the woman into a tiny room.

“A old guy from the pet store down the street, He said some blonde guy bought it and asked him to deliver it here” The receptionist explained. She opened a little room and Josie stepped in it. She heard a soft whining coming from the large package on the ground. Josie slowly ripped off the wrapping paper uncovering a small yellow lab puppy.

“He’s so cute!” The receptionist exclaimed. Josie glanced at the tag that was stuck to the package.

“It’s a she” Josie replied. She picked up the box and started out of the office. When she was out the door Josie dropped the box into a trash can and held the dog in her arms. She walked a block to the store the lady had told her the package was from. She walked in and grabbed a leash from the wall.

“Excuse me, Could I buy this?” Josie asked. An older man stood up and started to ring it up, then he glanced at the puppy.

“Did you buy that here?” He questioned.

“Actually, I got it at work” Josie replied.

“Oh, That was you? I delivered it” He replied.

“Could you tell me who sent it to me? I want to name it after the person” Josie lied.

“Well, He gave me his cell phone number and well, He was tall and blonde. That’s all I remember, I could’ve sworn I’ve seen him before” The man explained, handing her the number.

“Thanks a bunch” Josie replied.

“It had to be Nick who sent me the dog” Josie explained. Melissa coughed.

“Josie, I love you, You know that, But I’ve had a hard day and I don’t think telling me your problems will help any” Melissa explained.

“But Mel, Who else would send me a dog?” Josie questioned.

“Haven’t you met anyone in NYC? Maybe Eminem, I dunno but Nick wouldn’t do it. Didn’t you say the guy gave you a number, Call him up, Be creative, You always have” Melissa replied.

“I guess” Josie replied.

“Listen, Would you just get off our high horse for one second Josie! You hurt Nick and the way you sound Nick was the one that went and screwed with someone else. Nick has EVERY right to hate you and you have EVERY right to hate yourself so just don’t come to me for advice I’m sick of you” Melissa snapped. She slammed the phone down while Josie listened to it beep.

“What’s her problem” Josie muttered to her new dog J.

“Hello?” Lindsey asked. Josie took a deep breath and kicked her plan into full blast.

“This is the Pet Store on 9th Avenue. I was wondering if a man lives there with you?” Josie asked in a high voice.

“Um, Hold On” Lindsey muttered. “NICK! PHONE!”

“You don’t have to scream” Nick scolded softly. He took the cell phone and sighed.

“Hello?” Nick asked. Josie was so happy to hear his voice she didn’t reply right away.

“Hello?” Nick asked again.

“Yes, Did you send a dog to a miss Josie Martin today?” Josie asked in her high voice.

“Yes I did-Why?” Nick asked.

“Well she came in today and we explained to her you brought her the dog. She seemed very happy” Josie replied.

“Well, I gave it to her as a break-up gift, To show her it’s over” Nick explained.

“No offense, but you don’t give someone a dog when you want to break up with them” Josie replied.

“Listen, If she bothers you and comes in again I’m at the Double Tree Hotel, Just tell her to meet me there sometime, I’m here til Friday” Nick explained. “I gotta run..Miss?”

“Jenkins, Laura Jenkins” Josie lied.

“Bye” Nick exclaimed. Josie wrote the hotel down and smiled, she’d gotten what she wanted.
