Hoo-Hoo International is the oldest fraternity that was started in Gurdon, Arkansas, back in the 1800’s by a group of gentlemen in the lumber and forest products industry. The organization is worldwide with new clubs opening in Malaysia and South Africa. Recently the club had begun to allow women into the organization. Their main goal is to educate the younger generation about forestry, and environmental issues that have an effect on trees, papers and wood products. Their headquarter is located in Gurdon, Arkansas.

Environmental Education has been in my family since I was in 3rd grade at Grewenow School. I can still remember the day…

My dad, Jeff Cain, had been invited by my teacher and by the principle to talk to my class and the other 3rd grade classes about Arbor Day and Earth Day. He had told us stories, showed us the rings of a tree, and we just had fun. Everyone had enjoyed it and he was invited back again for the next 6 years through the day of my sisters' 6th grade graduation. My dad didn't stop there though; he then went into my junior high for couple of years talking to the science classes and the social studies classes. Soon he became a facilitator for Project Learning Tree (PLT), Project Wild and Project Wild Aquatic.

In 1996 I had attended a PLT, Project Wild and Project Wild Aquatic "Presenter" workshop at Bong State Park. I was the youngest one there out of 30 scout leaders and teachers. In 1998 I was featured in the Kenosha News on the Ten 411 page for my beginnings of the "A Growing Family Tree", during that year I had went into 20 elementary schools in Kenosha, WI where I practiced my presentations with students. By the end of May I had already met with 1500 students of all ages, I presented 3 DNR Flags for their efforts, I had helped at many "presenter" workshops. By this time it was been said that I was the "Youngest Presenter" for the state of Wisconsin.

In March of 1999 I had advanced enough to be able to take my knowledge and experience to the next level. I attended the "Facilitator" workshop in what seemed like a blizzard. Once again I was the youngest out of teachers, and professionals there.

Today I have met with over 3000 students, certified 150 teachers and scout leaders and presented over 9 DNR flags to participating schools. Including the most recent one to MC Phearson College.

I used PLT to get my Girl Scout Gold Award in May of 1999.I had the support of my Dad, Al Stenstrup and the "gang" at the DNR office in Madison,WI , as well as,HOO-HOO International.
