Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool Disciplinary Policy
Rev.Dr. Hackbarth is the director of our Preschool program. His disciplinary policy is strictly followed. The policy is as follows.
1. If a student is disruptive, the teacher will talk with the students to urge him/her to correct their disruptive behavior.
2. If the student refuses to stop their disruptive behavior, the teacher will redirect the child, at a table or in another
part of the classroom to begin a "cooling down" period.
3. If the student continues to be disruptive, Rev. Dr. Hackbarth will be called into the classroom and the student will
sit in his office for a few minutes. After the student has calmed down, Rev. Dr. Hackbarth will talk to the student
to lead him/her to correct his/her behavior. Then the student is sent back to the classroom.
4. At times, a student will not follow rules and will continue to be disruptive. Rarely will a parent be asked to
remove their child from our school. However, we insist on a safe environment for we feel that is the best
environment for learning.
5. At no time will a student be physically disciplined. Rev. Dr. Hackbarth’s philosophy of discipline is to separate
the disruptive student from the classroom to insure safety in the learning environment. He will then talk to the
student away from the classroom setting in order to impress upon the disruptive student that he/she must work
together with the teachers and fellow students to make Good Shepherd Lutheran School a wonderful learning
experience. If a student has been disruptive, the parents of that student will be notified.
