Crochet Water Bottle Carrier

Materials:

2 Spools of 100 percent nylon twine:
"Seine Twine/Mason Line #18, 225 ft." (I bought mine in the hardware department at Wal-Mart)
Size H (5mm) aluminum hook.

Sized to fit a one liter water bottle.

Pattern stitch: Sc, *sk 2 sc, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next sc, sk 2 sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around.

Rnd 1: Starting at bottom, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; do not join, work in continuous rounds. You may wish to mark the
1st st of ea round with a marker of some sort (bobby pin, safety pin, etc.).
Rnd 2: 2 sc in ea sc around (12).
Rnd 3: *Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (18).
Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (24).
Rnd 5: *Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (30).
Rnd 6: *Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (36).
Rnd 7: Working in back lps only, sc in ea sc around (36).
Rnds 8-15: (or for approximately 3 inches) Sc in ea sc around.
Rnd 16: (pattern stitch used in this round) Sl st in next sc, ch 1, sc in same st, *sk 2 sc, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next sc, sk 2 sc, sc in
next sc; rep from * around, join to 1st sc with a sl st.
Rnds 17-22: (or for approximately 3 inches) Sl st in next dc and in 1st ch of ch-3 sp, ch 1, sc in ch-3 sp, *(dc, ch 3, dc) in next
sc, sc in next ch-3 sp; rep from * around, join to 1st sc with a sl st.
Rnd 23: Ch 1, sc in same sp; sc in ea dc, ch, and sc around; do not join, mark 1st st if needed (35).
Rnds 24-25: Sc in ea sc around.

Handle shaping (1st side):
Row 1: Sc in next 16 sc, leaving remaining sc unworked, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sk 1st sc, sc in next 14 sc, leaving last sc unworked, ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Sk 1st sc, sc in next 12 sc, leaving last sc unworked, ch 1, turn.
Row 4: Sk 1st sc, sc in next 10 sc, leaving last sc unworked, ch 1, turn.
Row 5: Sk 1st sc, sc in next 8 sc, leaving last sc unworked, ch 1, turn.
Row 6: Sk 1st sc, sc in next 6 sc, leaving last sc unworked, ch 1, turn.
Rows 7-48: (or desired length to shoulder) Sc in ea sc across, ch 1, turn.
After last row, finish off and weave in ends.

Handle shaping (second side):
Row 1: With outside of carrier facing you, attach twine with a sc in 1st unworked sc, sc in next 15 sc, ch 1, turn.
Rows 2-48: Same as 1st side. At end of last row, finish off, leaving a long end for sewing. Sew ends of straps together neatly in
the center.


Testers comments:

It was a very fun pattern, easy to follow and the material was easy to work with,......except when you cut it, the end frays.........my husband suggested
melting the cut end with a match so that it will not fray. This technique works very well.
