Hello everyone . . . how many of us take our homes and all that our parents do for us for granted? How often do we remember to express our gratitude to God, and to our loved ones for the many blessings they bring us? All parents worthy of the name, love their children and are prepared to make sacrifices for them, but do the children always repay them with equal unselfishness?

Some young people . . . and grown-ups too! . . . are so busy grumbling about the things they haven't got, that they forget to be grateful for what they have. How often do we give thanks to God for our health, for example, and for our loved ones, and for the beautiful world which He has provided for us?

Yet to be well, to be loved, and to be privileged to live in lovely surroundings are things for which we should be grateful. If we are not, do we deserve further benefits? I hardly think so!

Let us show our gratitude in deeds as well as in words. It is easy enough to say: "Thank you." But God deserves more of us than that. He deserves that we should try to further His work on earth by living harmoniously with those around us and so to help to bring peace to the world.

He deserves that we should love our neighbours, and not only our neighbours, but also our enemies. And our neighbours are all men . . . regardless of race, colour, or creed. For all are alike to Him . . . all are His children. So often we are inclined to be harsh with those less privileged than we, forgetting that they have not our background, and have not enjoyed our advantages.

We all have difficulties to overcome, and problems to solve . . . they are part of our lives, and in the overcoming and the solving we build character. But let us not be so concerned with these things that we forget to count our blessings. Let us make a habit of thanking God morning and evening for all His Goodness to us. Let us learn to be appreciative. And let us also thank our parents by showing them every consideration we can, and by doing all we can to help them.

To be grateful is very important. Don't you agree?

Yours,

June.
